:confused:Okay, I've read tons of stuff about CAIs and TBSs (lot of smart people on this forum), and after some debate I put in a K&N CAI and a TBS on my 2011 TRD Sport. Right off the bat I was stoked to hear the deep growl and EXTREMELY noticeable power increase during acceleration. But after about 3 days of driving, the deep growl slowly turned back into the tame factory sound of before I put the CAI on, and there was an annoying whistling sound that developed when I hit the gas. So I took the TBS off - no more whistle - but the engine still sounds like it did before I put the CAI on. I've labored over this painstakingly over the Labor Day weekend so much (my wife says I'm f*kkin crazy) that I can't tell anymore if I'm getting more power, the same amount, burning more fuel, etc.. Basically - is it worth it to keep the CAI on???

damn, sounds unaminous. i went against my better judgement after reading up on them, i guess i wanted to see for myself. thanks to those that replied-like i said smart people on here. i guess the only question left is - what CAN you do as far as mods go for HP, fuel efficiency, power, etc?? i'm not big into trucks (although buying a Tacoma was one of the best decisions I've made), but have a compulsion for changing things from their factory settings for some reason...

boost it. other than that all the little things do not add up dollar for dollar like a supercharger

Yeah, throw on a supercharger if you want real power gains. I have nearly every single bolt on mod you can do without boost and I'm really not that much faster, but a whole hell of a lot louder . Dollar for dollar, the Supercharger is the best way to get real power. You can get one for around 3500 on trdparts4u.com and install will be around 700 bucks. If you are going for sound that is one thing, but if you want real power do the supercharger first and then add the supporting mods (intake, headers, exhaust, etc.)
