Isn't much modern turbo design. They are just smaller to compensate the lag. Bigger turbos have more lag. Fly by wire it's self doesn't have much lag either. What it is is the computer programming. The computer keeps the transmission in a higher gear for fuel economy reason. Takes a second for it to downshift and get into the power band. It seems like it's the throttle but it's really not

because nothing says modern, or cutting edge like a single cam and push rods... :)

seriously though... why not bring the 4.7, or 4.6 to the Tacoma line?

SOmeone mentioned the lag on the throttle is also a safety feature toyota put in so if someone was to slip and floor it by accident the vehicle will wait a second or so

Still old tech. Imagine what they could do if they joined the 21st century with over head cam and their version of VVTi.

Btw, i know very little about GM engines. Is the 6.0 an LS eninge? Because its only rated at 360ish hp and the Toyota 5.7 is in the 380 hp range. GM does have a much larger aftermarket following. Im guess that has a lot to do with the simply engine design.

I heard the new supra is this same engine with a bolt on turbo.. thats what a master tech told me from Toyota so maybe its the best of both worlds.

I don't believe that. Besides don't they have a feature now where is brake and gas are pressed at the same time the vehicle will stall? That way if the accelerator was stuck and the driver smashed the brake the vehicle would turn off

there is no new supra. everyone thinks the FT1 is the new supra yet Toyota Japan has already said NO it is not it is being based off the 2000GT.
Regardless engine is made by BMW. Supposed to be a twin turbo V6 hybrid system I believe.

And if its based off the 2000GT you can bet your ass they will be VERY VERY limited production. Unless they suddenly changed their mind but when it was very first introduced it was. Unless they changed it

I think its supposed to be if you slipped off the brake and hit the gas harder than you planned so it doesn't rev too high or spin the tires.
But yes if the brake is pressed while the throttle is in the brake takes priority (they did this after that prius accelerating shit)
But from what I read you can hold the brake then give it throttle if you are on a hill or something and need power right away.

So you're trying to be a wise ass and don't even know what an Ls and what's not. Typical Tacoma world

That "old tech" in the z06, ctsv, and z28 are still spanking exotics.

What?? everything Ive read said Supra.. and its a collaboration between toyota and bmw... but this engine is technically a hybrid engine. Also if you look at the exhaust, there are some areas to bolt on a turbo system.

That's to do with emissions. Nothing about a turbo.

When it first was revealed Toyota Japan said it is being based off the 2000GT
Then they said the FT stands for Future Toyota.

Toyota Canada and Toyota USA are saying its the next supra lol.
    So who knows.
But yes its being done with both BMW and Toyota. I'm assuming the engine is BMW made. But from what I have read on it the engine is V6 Hybrid Turbo.

I stopped following the articles on it. So maybe they have changed some of the spec and ideas to it.
I know there's a video with Jay Leno on it and they say its going to be affordable, not sure what they mean by that. If its going to have any sort of nice power it wont be. Its probably going to be the same price the MK4 Supra was (just account for inflation) So in the 100K range likely.

    Mostly stuff I built.
I'll repeat myself again in this thread. The issue that these guys are complaining about is not the engines fault. It is their choice to buy an automatic transmission that gives them the feeling of low power. These trucks need a lower gear ratio to keep them in their power band. The crisp shifting manual complements the rev happy 3.5L very well. 5500-6000 rpm speed shifts will break the tires loose in the first 3 gears in my truck. No complaints from me on the power. Don't believe me go drive one with a manual and see for yourself.

Why would there be extra bolt holes for emissions.... that makes no sense, ive seen it deconstructed and it looks like they left room for a turbo. I could be wrong but it makes sense that this V6 which is tech a hybrid would have room left for a turbo.

Increased flow to mount the converters closer to the heads to heat the converters faster for EMMISIONS.

these makers need to stop with all this emission shit.
just do what VW did and find a way to not get caught.
