Another 1st gen owner here. I really like your SnugTop. I'd like to get one one these days. Here is a pic of my 2004. Got it last year.

DAMM that truck is HOT! I would keep the tonneau man.. it's perfect on your truck:) I can see you're another person who shows pride of ownership-really handsome machine. Were the flares factory or your doing..they make the truck's image pop even more. I like the snugtop too but I have to admit it was a battle to get a good one at first! #1 leaked at the bars-#2 leaked thru the brakelight-this is #3 but the rear glass door had to be replaced 'caus of poor fit. NOW it's all good. They were scared of me but I aint no sheeple-$1700 for a shell, it better be right, right?;)

Never really been a huge fan of the 2nd gen taco's. Ima 1st generation fan myself and i will NEVER sell mine. If anything happens to it (not that it will because its a TOYOTA!), ill just call toyota and have a new engine dropped in it. 1st gen. alliance sounds good to me!

Whatsup TRD-I feel the same way you do about mine. I have a feeling 2001 was a banner year for Tacomas..I've never had any of the problems the 2nd gens are experiencing. This truck just keeps on giving and the older it gets (stone chips and the patina of use aside) the better it gets. Obviously the same for you too. Other guys on this forum are enjoying their '95-2000's too. One example is Danescabare's reg cab with the 2.7..bulletproof lil Tonka Truck! Reg cabs are so much fun to scoot around offroad and cruise in I don't blame him a bit for wanting to put mods in it! If you guys want to start the alliance let's do it! 1st Gens Rule:amen:

Thanks guys. You guys have some good looking trucks as well!

Everything is stock on my truck as far as I know. I'm not sure who made the tube steps and the cover is an A.R.E. The fender flares just have some Armorall on them. Its good stuff. You just have to make sure to let it soak in for at least 24hrs but 48hrs is even better. Then they look new for a long time.

I think all of us with 2001+ trucks got a great deal. Good looking trucks with good reliability.

Hey Jrallan26. How'd you get an Optima battery in your truck. I tried but my cables where too short. Also did you paint your flares or did they come like that? Your truck looks good man. If you had a tonneau on there it would be hard to tell our trucks apart.

Hey Missileman you gotta get 1 for the collection man! I like to think of Tacomas along the lines of the older Landcruisers or even the old safari type Land Rovers...they don't get older, they get cooler!!! By the way I checked out your photos-you ARE the man! God Bless you and your family Pal!:)

    Kabar,

My truck is completely stock. As for the Optima battery you have to order the Optima with reverse posts.

Mine is the TRD package thus the matching bumpers and painted flares.

I am also not a fan of the 2nd gens. IMO if I want a bigger truck I will get a Tundra.

Looks awesome! I always did like the grill/front of the first gens. My stepdad had one for awhile, but they quit making them by the time I could afford a new one.

Thanks:) brake pedal-easy clipon. Go pedal-not so easy...there are two bolts that fasten on the floor with ballbearing nipples:eek: that pop up thru the carpet and pop into the bottom of the pedal.
