According to the link, the Ridgeline is a "compact pickup trunk". So there you have it; officially not a truck.

Not to burst your bubble, but vehicles do get redesigned once in awhile... The re-done Pacifica did very well in reviews - Motor Trend called it class leading and the upcoming hybrid model potentially a game-changer. Not at all illogical for a best-in-class vehicle (even a minivan) to be in a random "top 10" list.

Note: I despise minivans, but I think it's wrong to disparage a product that is totally new based solely on the history of the older shittier version.

Chrysler has a loooooong history of shitty products. If you can forget about all the past products they've put out (hard to do), and just look at the Pacifica for what it is today, it's pretty cool for a minivan. I've leased a couple to clients of mine and for a van, they love it. I guess Chrysler has the patent on the stow and go seating, since Honda and Toyota don't have it? That's a game changer for a family with a couple of small kids.

Not true. Ridgelines hold their values like crazy depending on area you live in. They are solid vehicles that fit certain people's needs no matter how much people talk shit on them.

If you dislike the Tacoma so much why in the f*** do you even "toll" this forum. Go buy a Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Nissan, or the precious highly rated truck "want-a-be" Ridgeline. I guess I'm just a "kook" as I actually love my Tacoma. This is my fourth Toyota truck--3 Tundra's and the current Tacoma. Yes, I have had the minor issues with it but it's as good a vehicle as I have ever owned from a Toyota Tercel (the least expensive) to the Lexus (my wife drives) and many other vehicles(over 40) in between. I guarantee those who buy the new gen Ridgeline will have their issues as well.

The old ones do, because they didn't produce many. It also looked better than this new version. If they produce these in a large volume they will sit on lots, and destroy the resale value. Honda and Toyota are smarter than the domestics, in that when they produce a vehicle that's not a big hit, they don't try and cram them down the public's throat with incentives. They just produce less of them. There will be a few people that love the new Ridgeline, but I don't think it will be a volume truck like the Toyota or GM twins. It reminds me of a Subaru station wagon. If you can get past the looks, it's probably a pretty nice vehicle with some pretty cool features. If you want a truck that never gets off pavement, and drives like a car, it's probably a good fit. Oh wait, that's an SUV.

No they don't. No they're not. Not for a truck. Comparative to the car class, yes.

Except in your example Chrysler has always sucked....for decades....theres no amount of awards that will make up for the fact the chrysler, dodge, jeep, fiat etc are among the least reliable vehicles out there. If anything this just validates that reviews and such are shit anyway.

At least the ridgeline's frame won't rust if it's a car.

Hahaha. The rigidline a truck?! No unibody vehicle is ever a truck.
I've owned Toyotas, Hondas and GMs and GM was the worst with Toyota
having the least issues and Honda had a couple issues but no where as bad as the GM.

I really don't see the Ridgeline as a truck based on one major issue. It's built on the Pilot platform, which isn't even considered a true SUV anymore, it's lumped into the "large crossover" category. It could compete with a Highlander based pickup... I guess...
Historically, SUVs got their platform from the truck, not the other way around. The original 4Runner was based directly on the pickup frame with very few modifications. Toyotas SUVs are still based on the truck counterpart and share frames and lots of components (Tacoma/4Runner & Tundra/Sequoia). They may release the SUV update first but it's always a truck frame with an SUV body.
Am I way off on this or does it seem like a logical assessment?

Why can't people just be happy with their purchases and stop looking for validations.

This Taco vs Ridgeline shit is getting old.
