I've always wanted a 2nd gen and finally pulled the trigger on one. With all the engine problems on my 1st gen and hunting season coming up I decided to bite the bullet and get exactly what I've wanted. Its already set up with toytec suspension and icon leaf springs. The main part I really like is it has the supercharger, with all the receipts from when it was put on when the truck was new. Night and day difference power wise and I got 18 mpg bringing it home. The only issue I found is either the drivers side wheel bearing is going out or the clamshell needle bearing. I already ordered the ECGS bushing to try 1st then wheel bearings after. I did the ecgs on my 3rd gen when I had it which was easy so either way easy fix! Now I need to decide what I'm doing with the 1st gen....20250826_194642.jpg

    Nice one!
Yeah, going from the 3.4L to a supercharged 4.0L is definitely night and day. I have both of those at home. I do love our 1st gen though.
I too came from a 3rd Gen. Happy hunting!

Im sure there is bad sides to the 4.0, but I sure love the oil filter location on the 4.0 way more than the 3.4. And the lack of a timing belt haha.

Makes me wonder why many people say 1st gen best gen, 2nd gen 2nd best gen
    and that 1st is better
I’d hope there’s not much difference between 4.0 and 3.4

Sat in a buddy’s 1st gen that somehow felt roomier at least overhead, than my 2nd gen

I’m guessing bigger greenhouse, smaller parts, thinner (potentially less crash safe), seats mounted lower, etc
