    So if you:

Had the money to cover a new tacoma, would you finance or pay cash?

My APR on a 2018 would be 4.2% (in comparison to theAPR on a 2017 is 0.9%)

I want to build up my credit as my credit is good but it is young, so while just paying for the thing would be nice and not having a payment every month would be ideal, I would like to buy a house some day and feel like financing is the best option.

Just curious if any old bags can give advice to a young lad? :)

    What color?

Just kidding- get the 17 at .9% of course, unless you like TSS.

    Good luck

I’d go lower interest rate if the truck had what I wanted as far as the options go. Which one gives you a better price overall? Any other finance options through other entitities?

My problem is I think I like the cement color... hated it at first, now its really grown on me. And unfortunately only available on the 2018s

Source of the credit? Seems like that's a big gap for one year model. Sounds like dealer shenanigans to me.

    Edit.

Failed to notice who's thread I was in.

I'm out. I'll catch you in one of the multiple others history says you'll post on the same topic.

Or better yet, run and check on my safe place. There could be an opening if the re-modelers are almost done with the expansion I commissioned.

The best price I had been able to get on a 17 was TRD OR w/ heated seats moon roof etc. was $36,300.

That being said, dealers aren't moving as much as I'd expected on the 17. One guy was wiling to go $33,922 on a 2018 with an MSRP of $37,300.

I could care less about TSS

In Ohio/PA Toyota will give you 0.9% for 60 months. Apparently there is no incentives on the 2018s.

    I hate car dealers.

If you are not in a “need it now situation” I would wait it out a bit with your current truck. Once the dealers have purged their inventory of the remaining 17s they may be willing to work with you on an 18 cement grey. Buy once cry once like I have read here on TW many times

If the object is to build credit; put a large down payment on the one you want.

I thought you got the Silver Sport:confused:
Anyway, do you have access to a credit union? If so, take out a loan with them and pay double the monthly payment. You will build credit and have your truck paid off in half the time while not padding the dealerships pocket anymore than you have to.
Also in doing that, you are not dropping all your cash at once should you need some in case of emergencies.

Finance it, make payments for a minimum of 6 months, then pay it off. This will put the auto loan and payment history on your credit report, and you won't be saddled with payments for 5-6 years.

Dealers don't create incentives. Toyota does. Regardless of what it's 'called'. There's no reason to hate them, but there is good reason to understand how the business works.

Dealer/Toyota financing at a low rate means you're paying too much for the vehicle.

Go to a credit union, get pre approved then negotiate a better price on the vehicle.

That was my initial plan, but the dealer I was working with ended up not being able to push through the college grad rebate, while others had no trouble just taking it off the top. I told him I would wait.

Silver is still my number one choice, I just saw the cement on the 18s and it through a wrench in my initial plan.

I will not have a credit union until I start my "big boy job" in June.

Don't be silly. With the right deposit and vehicle down payment the CU will be happy to take you now.

Any chance you have a specific credit union in mind?

I don't hate car dealers, I guess I just hate the whole back and forth process. I just want to be able to say I want a truck for this much $, and they give me the yay or nay

Nope. Many CUs are regional, but some are national.

Just Google 'best credit unions' and read some NerdWallet or Kiplinger articles.
