Cutting the antenna means worse reception. If you live in an area with good radio reception, you may not notice it but it is worse. Everything I've seen says your antenna should be about 31". For shorter antennas, it should be in multiples of 13" - 15.5" for best reception on the FM band. So 13"-15", or 26-31". The longer the antenna, the better the reception.

I cut mine and it works fine. Used a black sharpe to color the top and you can't even tell it's been cut. I mean, really... how many people go around inspecting antenna's?

Any of these improve reception? The stock one is garbage compared to all other vehicles Ive owned. Certain stations from a nearby city that I used to listen to all the time now I cant even get.

Went to Autozone this afternoon after reading another member bought his there (thanks for the headsup). Bought one (short stubby) and installed in it a minute and have great reception. An added benefit I never thought about: I can clean the windshield on the pass side without the antenna being in the way. I love easy, cheap and simple mods. GO Falcons!!! Oh, I might add: less than $7.00
