Hard not to feel sorry for both sides of the story.

 

Sad, hope everything turns out ok for this family.

 

Kids that age also make stupid decisions...

 

Adults make stupid decisions too.

Sometimes relationships are unhealthy ones and need to be terminated, whether it be with friend's, family, or loved ones, you have to think of your self first. Having gone through something very similar myself I can honestly say this may very well be the best choice she has.

All I am saying is not to get directly involved. If you see her contact the intermediate party (the police) and not the father in any way. They will determine the best course of action at that point for both the father AND the daughter. Often times the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

You don't disrespect your father like that no matter what, He clearly loves her and he more then deserves a better explanation from her daughter. Imagine if your Son/Daughter just up and left you, THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS. Didnt even say goodbye to your face. Just a couple sticky notes... Im all for this father, And im 20 years old.

I pray and hope this girl opens her eyes and sees that there are alot better ways then just packing up and leaving. Kona, Thank you for being this to TW's attention. This father more then deserves to at least know where his daughter is and if she is safe. If anyone of you had a daughter for 17 years it would Tear your heart out to read those words.

A few things come to mind:

When's her birthday?

Where's the plate number for the car? Amarillo PD has most likely sent out all known vehicle info to NCIC so this plate number can be tracked by any agency in the US.

What's in Bisbee, AZ? Humbolt, CA and the other town? Relatives?

She may still be in TX as well.

And we only know a youtube hand written note card side of the story.

And checking the Amarillo News sites, nothing comes up....its all forum and Facebook related.

I hope this has a good outcome if real, if not....no sympathy.

Man, I dont know why but that video really gets to me, That whole situation is kind of a tugging at my heart. I guess it stems from my parents...

Ive been though alot with my father and unfortunately lost my mom to alcohol. She went MIA from her 80K a year job, Her home and family and became hopelessly addicted and homeless.

I guess the moral of the story is you never give up on the ones who raised you. I never gave up on trying to help my mom, And even know my dad has found himself in a place that he has nobody to blame for but himself. Even after all that, I still do everything i can for my dad and I still love my parents and would NEVER do something like this to them.

The only things that would seperate me from my parents would be something like being beaten, or sexually abused. To me this father does not look like the type that would do either.

You don't know the whole story. Not everyone has a happy story in their life when it comes to growing up. I do get what you're saying though but like some has mentioned, situation dictates. I am a father to a 3 year old and she is my everything and if she decides to up and leave one day I would want to know why as well. If I were fucked up to her, mis-treated her over and over then it's pretty captain obvious on why she left.

Then let me ask you this. What if a father frequently drinks and beats his children, should they respect and honor them then? What if a father is molesting his children, should they stay then? How about the father that was caught a year ago selling his daughter as a prostitute? All parents love their children. In the words of George Carlin "John Wayne Gacy loved his children" Being a parent does not guarantee you love. respect, or honor. These are traits that must be earned.

I am NOT saying the father is or has done any of these things. But seeing as how we don't have both sides of the story, and we're not talking about an 8 year old we OWE it to her to let an intermediate party handle this if we see her.

 

Just an update if anyone was wondering or isnt aware, He did find his daughter and brought her home Happy Ending!

The more i think about this, it reminds me of a girl i went to high school with. she loved her family/ friends to death but she flunked college and couldnt find a job. her dad was a single dad taking care of her and her little brother and he was broke and did everything he could to help her. She left a note similar and ran away to relieve her father of his burden of taking care of her so he could concentrate on caring for her brother. it was super sad. She turned up like 3 years later in N cali and then moved to NYC.

If you read the note, it wasnt a hostile, "i hate you, Im leaving" it seemed like a hippy child going to "find herself" without worrying about people and the feeling of people worrying about her...

I see where you are coming from but the fact still remained she is a child, a minor until 18, any loving parent, (including me), would have flipped out with worry and grief.
