Last year around this time I sold my 02 double cab limited 4x4 with 151k miles for $12500. Ever since then I have regretted tremendously so I finally sold my 4Runner and have been looking for a double cab for the past 3 months. It seems like the only few I have found have been overpriced with over 180k miles and the condition of them was pretty rough. I seems like the more time that goes by the price of double cabs go up. I've even been looking all over the U.S. On Craigslist and still getting the same results. When I was looking and bought my 02, there were at least 3 4x4 double cabs within 50 miles in good condition and priced very reasonably. Did you guys experience this same problem when you looking to buy a tacoma?

Here is my old 02 0520C95C-EA24-433C-8830-ECED2422248C_zps_b4011870781e70a9fac52ca9273a0b129643b557.jpg

Are you looking for a 1st gen double cab? I've seen lots of 2nd gens for sale in my area.

Yeah double cabs are becoming extremely rare on the market, you see them a lot on the road. But nobody wants to sell em. :D

I was looking for about 5 months before I found one in good condition with reasonable mileage. Keep looking and don't settle for something crappy. That was a good looking 02, why did you sell it?

Ya I loved my 02 but I sold it to help my grandmother out and pay some of her medical bills. I bought it from the original owner and it was meticulous maintained.

I paid $13,500 for an 01 limited with 106k on it, it currently has 123k on it, I would not $13,500 for it, good luck!

There is only that came up for sale locally for $17500 with 86k miles but that's more than I want to spend. I did find an 04 prerunner ext cab trd with 107k miles for $8500 that I am really considering. I could buy that one and convert it to 4x4 for cheaper than I could buy a 4x4 one. It would be a good learning experience since my future father in law has an 03 DC TRD with 50k miles that he said he would sell me in a couple years that is dying for a 4x4 conversion.

Good luck with the search! I'll keep my eyes peeled here in Cali. Like I said in our convo, the current DC I purchased sort of just "popped" up. PM me with specs on what you're looking for (mileage, color, mods, budget, etc.) and I'd be willing to help.

There is an 04 DC TRD 4x4 with 86k miles that just had the timing belt, water pump, plugs, wires, and valve cover gaskets replaced for $17500. The truck is in mint condition inside and out. What do you think would be a good price to offer him or does $17500 sound about right? This is the only picture I have of the truck

Similar truck came up last year December for 18k. It was only listed for 6 hours before it was sold. So I would jump on it if everything checks out.

Well guys I am finally a tacoma owner again. I did end up buying that 04 with 86k miles. I'm so glad to have found my truck only 5 miles away from my house. Here is the only picture I have of the truck because it is raining pretty bad here.

Congrats man! Glad you found what you were looking for!

Is that a Limited (I thought all Limited's came with chrome door handles and mirrors) or an SR5/TRD with the color keyed package?

Thanks man! Ya it's the SR5/TRD color keyed package. My old 02 was a limited. I've already been looking for some 4Runner seats to swap in that way I have the better seats like the limited models do. How's the parts swap going?
