My frame is rusted through is several places and I decided to replace it. I finally have my truck apart and looking on sca.auction and salvagebid for a donor truck. None of these sites list the frame condition and are too far away to visit to inspect. Copart wants $130 for inspection fee, For the IaaI location, you can visit 10-2 before the auction and need to pay for a yard badge/fees.

Most of the trucks are several hours away and just wondering if there is a better way to go about this. I don't want to pay $130 for each truck just to find out the frame is rusted. And I dont want to take off work to drive 6 hours to find out the frame is rusted.

I used www.car-part.com and eventually found a frame and a couple other parts.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
You may be best off looking for auctions out west if you can find someone to check them there. Way less chance getting stuck with a rust bucket.

I bite the bullet and just ordered the last brand new extended cab frame for my 1998..

I'm in central Pa, around Somerset. I think the frame it too far gone for caps because the top rail is soft in a few places - a couple very small holes in the top but dents pretty easy when hit with a hammer. Im afraid that once I grind the rust off there wont be enough to weld. Also I don't know how to weld yet or have welding equipment.
