Granted, a ten year marriage and a child aren't things to be tossed aside lightly. That said, I don't understand why people stay in relationships when they don't trust their sig other.

I'm not going to spend my life playing detective. If I suspect he's sleeping around on me, that's enough to end it. Why would I suspect that? Because he is a little too flirty with other women. Or there's already some way he's acting that is making me wonder what he's up to. It almost doesn't matter if it's true, the suspicion means I don't trust him. And that means I'm going to start acting like a lunatic, checking his text messages and phone records, hacking his Facebook. I'm not playing that game. If he's acting in an untrustworthy manner, adios.

I think that there's an extent to which you have to question your own insecurites, make sure you're not over-reacting. But other than that, I agree with you- if there is no trust, just give it up.
