Just a bunch of old crap
I caught my ex wife cheating on me via my police scanner.

We had split up a few times, but were back living together again (keep in mind we had a kid together and I was trying to make it work... plus I was a naive young dumbass). Anyways, I had just moved into her apartment within 4 days, and she was over at a friend's place in the next building. This is when we all had 900mHz cordless phones, mind you. Anyways, one of her other girlfriends calls her place looking for her, and I say "no, she's over at so-and-so's apartment right now". Knowing this scandalous friend had the phone number to the place that my ex was at, I immediatly start scanning the 900mHz frequencies. Low and behold, I scanned into the call right when the conversation started. Within minutes, the conversation turned into "now that he's living with you, does Adam know that you and so-and-so are fooling around?". Many other incriminating details were given on that call, giving absolutely no doubt to many other things.

Within a half hour, when my ex came back to her apartment, I was already almost fully repacked again. She played nice and acted surprised that I was packing again. I didn't even tell her why, I just made her wonder and that drove her nuts. Thankfully I had only been there 4 days and had only unpacked clothes and basics. Divorce filed within a month of that, and I finally told her how I found out when the papers were served. Of course she blatantly denied the allegations, and had BS excuses and alibis for everything. But, once I gave her word for word quotes from the phone call, she was speechless.

Portable Bearcat scanner and 900mHz cordless phones FTW

I hope this is the case. Make sure you tell your wife that you trust her when you tell her about what the neigbor said. That way she will be more open to you, and you can get a better feel for her reaction.

I would thread spy cameras with utmost caution. Invasion of privacy gets a very good look through in a court setting. Even if its in your own house. You should have a very strong rebuttal as to why you were installing cameras in house. Judge may not be so understanding if you know what I mean. Now if you have a nanny and you have a child and she likes teddy bears or other hidden cameras... you could then argue that you had a valid reason to suspect your nanny and it just so happened to catch other things.

Guys do yourself a favor, you know how women always fuss about us leaving the toilet seat up? Well get in the habit of leaving it down for her. Most guys don't, so if a guy is coming into your house then the seat will likely be left up at some point for you to find. Just be careful that she wasn't cleaning the bathroom and left it up and go all crazy. ;)

Another thing I wanted to share, some mentioned using cameras. Well that's fine to catch them but isn't there some kind of law against recording against one's will not allowing it to be used in court? This stems from a friend of mine years ago. He told me the story about loaning his video camera to a friend of his who thought his wife to be cheating. His son would talk about a man in a big red truck coming over and "wrestling" with mommy. They had some problems and he had "temporarily" moved out to try to give space. So he borrowed the camera which had night vision. So one night he rides by and a big lifted red truck sits in the drive, no lights on in the house, stereo in blaring. He goes in with the camera in night vision and records this man with his head between his wife's legs and walks out without them ever knowing he was there in part to the music and never heard him. They go to court for the divorce and his lawyer says he can't use the tape. He got wiped out. She got the house, child custody/support and I can't remember what all.

I know the whole friend of a friend bs, and there is 2 sides to every story, but I believe my friend totally. Now what his friend told him, :notsure: It sounds kinda hard to believe that they never knew he was there. But the point is about using the recording. I've heard this kind of stuff before about it not being admissible in court.

Sounds a little far stretched to me. Wouldnt the childs testimony be usable? He witnessed the "wrestling"

The looks on the wrestling couple's faces would be just too good to not record on the night vision camera. I would have made a little noise to get their attention, taped their reaction, and then left....

The altercation that would have ensued would probably be usable in court too (step outside, leave the camer on and now its public)
