    Hey guys,

I posted a while back about chasing CEL's on my O2 sensors after buying my used Tacoma 2 months ago. Once I got the O2 sensors replaced, the ECU was able to measure Cat efficiency and threw a P0420 code for "Cat efficiency below threshold".

Then, fortunately, I remembered reading somewhere about Toyota having a recall on some Gen 2 catalytic converters back in the day. I checked my VIN online to see and sure enough my truck still had an outstanding recall to replace the converters if bad. I called the local dealer and 2 weeks later he's got the parts in and TODAY he has my 2012 120,000 mile Tacoma pulled into his Giver-r-ship (opposite of a Stealership?) to put a couple of grand of free parts on the truck.

Anyway...with CEL's nothing is ever 100% certain, but I certainly hope this fixes it.

    Phil

Follow up. Picked the truck up. No CEL! Drove it home over an hour. Still no CEL! Hooked up my scanner and every diagnostic checks good for the first time since I’ve owned the truck!

    Happy happy Joy joy!
