What about a mount that goes behind the console. The only thing is that since that it's not flat up and down I am only thinking that you're only going to be able to have a mount that holds the top in. Unless you can make it extend out from the bottom so the holder will grab the extinguisher.

How did you mount the bracket? just screws or is there metal close enough behind the panel you tapped into, I didnt feel any when I was thumping on said panel. Im planning on getting this bracket since the one it came with didnt feel so great.

Many years ago, I sold & serviced fire extinguishers. One problem I found with dry power mounted in a vehicle is, the bouncing around caused power to settle and pack. When you need it all you got was nitrogen gas and little power.
Some companies had them either mounted upside down or on it's side. Seems on it's side worked better as the power could move. Of course banging on the ground first might help but who's going to remember that.

being a honda guy from a long time ago, and racing one, competitively, i NEVER understood why people mounted APC fire extinguishers to the a pillar on the passenger side. just thought id remind everyone about that.

all that aside, i think it is time to get one for mine.

I would completely avoid dry chemical ABC extinguishers. If you use dry chemical under the hood or the interior the chances are your vehicle will be totaled. The chemical gets into everything and will destroy your electronics. Plus, with anything less than a 5 lb extinguisher the spray time is so short that they are almost useless. CO2 is great but an extinguisher large enough to be useful is bigger than most anyone is willing to carry. Personally I am leaning toward halon but its expensive. They are rated for B and C fires but will do an okay job on class A combustibles. Will need to do a bit more research about cold fire to see if thats an option too.

Halon is a bit expensive yet a good alternative. That's what you see in aircraft. What about The Marine rated B/C extinguishers? I thought they weren't as bad for your cars electronics as the typical A-B-C extinguishers?

They quit making halon. They still widely use it and recycle it however that process is why it's so expensive.

    Pulled this from OSHA site.
Since it is heavier than air (vapor density = 5.2), it could, however, cause suffocation by displacing oxygen and thereby reducing its availability (oxygen). Effects from inhalation at levels between 4 and 10 percent may include mild CNS (central nervous system) effects such as dizziness, impaired coordination, light-headedness, increased heart rate, and ringing in the ears. Tingling in the extremities has also been reported. These types of effects are typically completely reversible upon removal from exposure.
I have also had first hand experience with this.
Car pulled up in front of our fire station with its catalytic converter on fire. I was laying on the ground checking the car when a 16 year old junior fireman came back with a extinguisher and began to spray from the other side. Did not realize it was halon til I took a breath.
FYI in an enclosed space or close proximity to halon you breath in and out normal just don't get oxygen. (Not fun)

Which is why I carry abc dry Chem.
If no one is in the vehicle halon is by far the best for saving electronics. However if someone is trapt in a car on fire they are already having lack of oxygen issues due to smoke so I would avoid halon...

That being said if halon is what you got them passing out due to lack of oxygen is better than burning alive.
