Nah, it’s a pretty nice neighborhood, down the street there are a few low end apartments but for the most part it’s older folks and 30’s and older, we have a game warden and a city officer that live on our street and several other LEO’s on the streets fairly close.
We’re close to the rough part in our end of the city though, in fact I hear 2 vehicles running code right now.

How have those loaded guns not just decided to turn and shoot someone?!? Loaded guns can just go off at any random time! /[end sarcasm]

Wow, that's how I'd like our house to be... but not until our young 'uns are bigger ;) At first glance you'd think this is San Bernardino or West Memphis. However the adage "hope for the best, prepare for the worst" is true. & Si vis pacem Parabellum!

    To distract form yesterday's posturing...

I'm planning to pick up a Boyd's ProVarmint stock for a rifle I'm throwing together, and I'm stuck on chosing a recoil pad. I'm unsure of whether the upgraded pads are worth the extra recoil mitigation, or what other benefits they might give. Do they have more stiction in the shoulder? Do they last longer? I've heard a lot of people like their Pachmayr pad, and the Kick Eez is well liked too, but I haven't felt either to figure out if they're worthwhile, and have no clue if either one is gonna degrade quickly and require replacement in a few years.

For background, the rifle is a Savage Axis with an 18" 11VT 308 barrel. It intermittently wears a muzzle brake and sees a lot of rounds in a session, so cutting recoil would be nice. The current recoil pad on the synthetic stock works well and I definitely don't want to lose any mitigation compared to it.

    TL;DR Boyd's recoil pad, Pachmayr, or Kick-Eez?

LED shop light arrived yesterday. Perfect fit over my newly built gun bench. Ended up being a nice setup and very comfortable either sitting or standing.

I just got a call from a buddy of mine asking if I was interested in volunteering 5 hours/month at a range near him, with Covid they’re short RSO’s and if you volunteer you get to shoot anytime for free.
I’m tempted to check it out, if nothing else we’ll go volunteer on Fridays (we both work 4-10’s) and be able to get some range time in, and I’ve been trying to spend a little more time around him since he came back from deployment so win/win.

    Is that a glock 17L or 24?

My wife is part liberal so we have a designated gun drawer.

It’s actually a G40, it’s like a 17L but 10mm and a little bit bigger in most dimensions (except barrel length), it was an impulse buy but my main goal is to hunt whitetail deer with it, it needs a red dot first though.

Nice, we had a family friend who made her husband keep his firearms disassembled in the closet, after about 2 years of knowing us she finally changed her mind.

Yeah I can't keep up with all the glock models lol. I have a 17L and 35. Id like to try the 10 mm.
Anyway with current events my wife has warmed to alot of things she never thought she would.

The lockdowns and food shortages really convinced my wife. She's working from home so we keep stuff open and unlocked. I give her credit she was prepping for this stuff back in Feb in other ways. I'm glad she put up with me. Now it doesn't seem so crazy to her.

Will post this in general area also, but CrossBreed Supertuck IWB for 1911, round trigger, single stack with rail. I ordered a pair of J clips also.

Never carried. Have 20 draws on the holster, is otherwise brand new. No complaints about it whatsoever, they’re as good as they say. Just don’t need it, probably should’ve ordered one for a different gun so I could buy that gun next. Haha.

Paid $88.75 after hooks and shipping. Will take $70 picked up or $75 shipped USPS flat rate with insurance.
