I'll echo 95Taco, a PSA upper with a quality BCG/CH is a solid no-nonsense combo, so long as you give the upper a once over to check for things like gas tube installation/alignment and barrel extension alignment (bolt lugs hitting barrel extension is REAL BAD, ask me how I know). Throw a nitride Toolcraft BCG and a decent CH in an assembled upper, add irons, have a decent inexpensive upper ready for a lower.

I have asked awhile back but I can’t remember the recommendations. What gun safe do you guys recommend? Preferably under $1000 but I can probably spend a little more if needed. Finally bought a house to put it in.

It’s going to be more than 1k, but I still think worth mentioning.

    https://www.sturdysafe.com/

When compared to anything I’ve seen at a sporting goods store, the sturdy is much more impressive in both build quality and amount of steel. It’s not as pretty as a liberty, all done up with carpet and pre installed lights, but that’s all cheap and easy to add. But if all you want a glorified gun cabinet it’s likely overkill.

I'm a Cannon and Old Glory fan, but theyre probably out of your price range

I'm mostly concerned with fire ratings

That is what I was going to say but was too lazy to type ^^
The security of a safe comes from 3 things, it being discreet, it being bolted down, and arguably most important, it being part of a security system, at my house I have cameras, motion sensors, door/window sensors, and a monitored system. Ideally I would have a more thorough battery backup system than I do but I’m not likely to be targeted by someone who would cut the power to the house.

My safe is for light theft protection and mostly for fire protection.

Fire rating and security is what I care about. I don’t care about looks at all.

Finally decided to make a dedicated home defense gun out of the 1911. The Streamlight off the G19 is going on the 1911 w/Recover Tactical grip. The G19 will be going from stock to build eventually. Figured after 13 years she deserves an upgrade.

    Plans for the G19
    - Olight PL-Mini 2 Valkyrie
    - Tenicor SAGAX LUX2 AIWB holster
    - Legion Precision Slide Cut/Cerakote
    - Holosun 507C

My current home defense handgun is a S&W 1917. It’s only 82 yo. Still .45 acp and reloads faster than a 1911.

The combo I purchased is the PMM P320 Ultra JTTC and Barrel Combo. I selected the compact barrel length (not X-Carry or X-compact, this slide is the regular old compact).
