After cleaning a few firearms last night, thought I'd share. Granted it's probably nothing new/earth shattering, but it's easy and convenient for spraying and/or soaking parts in solvent. Disposable mini-bread baking pans (5 for $1).

    Yep

An actual gun company owning Colt is a good thing. The investment groups that owned them in the past just to picked the pennies out of the couches and put nothing into R&D is part of what caused their downfall.

I saw someone online freaking out that "A foreign owned company might be making military contract guns!" Guess he never heard of FN, SAAB, Rheinmetall, HK,....

It happens a lot! It's just not widely reported. You'd hate to skew the narrative.

"According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, almost every major study on defensive gun use has found that Americans use their firearms defensively between 500,000 and 3 million times each year. There’s good reason to believe that most defensive gun uses are never reported to law enforcement, much less picked up by local or national media outlets. "

lots of idiots try, very few try twice

more days than not, we have cops hanging out in the shop because we’re all friends...but the idiots fail to realize that even if they make it out alive, it’s not the local cops tracking them down...the Fedbois investigate crimes committed at gunshops

Our GM is LEO so we usually had an officer hanging out. Every employee over 18 was encouraged to carry a pistol whether it was open or concealed. A lot of the time there would also be a personal AR or AK behind the counter on display. It was mostly to show off some of our accessories to customers but there would be a loaded mag under the register.

I actually did draw a gun on a police officer while working at that shop. We had a crew that would come clean lead out of our shooting berm a couple of times a year. This was done overnight to keep the range open during business hours. The process worked by vacuuming out all of our media (rubber chunks like on a playground) into a box truck, using equipment in the box truck to separate out the lead, and blowing the 'cleaned' media back onto our berm. While the crew was vacuuming up media they had their 12" vacuum lines running out our front door. I had the overhead coiling security door rolled down to leave a ~18" gap and chained so it couldn't be rolled up any further. I was sitting at a register facing the front door and reading a book. At about 1 AM a set of hands grabbed the underside of the security door and pulled up HARD. Door didn't move because it was chained but I dropped my book, got out from behind the register, unholstered my G19 and was at low ready. Yelled "WE'RE CLOSED! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" I hear "OH SHIT! POLICE!" and a few seconds later a hand with a badge goes under the door. Pop my head in the office to look at security monitor and sure enough there's a cruiser parked out front. Open the security door and it's a frequent customer of ours. He saw the front door open and security door partially open with a box truck out front and stopped to make sure everything was good. He came in and chatted for 30 min or so before leaving.

Luckily Sig and beretta never made guns for the military too.

Maybe there should be a test to own a gun

For you 45-70 experts. I'm down to two final choices. I own a Ruger #1 in 30-06 btw.

    Stock pics btw

    Ruger #1:

    Or

    Winchester 1885:

Any reason to go (or not go) with one or the other?

The No.1 is a great rifle. Very unique old school rolling block. But the straight stock on that Winchester is sexy. Don't know anything about the Winchester though. Honestly, I wouldn't mind owning either one!

I'm hoping to get drawn for a moose permit this year and want to do something different and try for a sub 100yd/m kill. Always wanted a big-bore, so figured this would be perfect. Just gotta save a little more $$ and then grab one. They don't seem to be as "unavailable" as others.

On a couple deer hunts this past 2020 season, my Ruger #1 in 30-06 (which will also easily take down a moose) was quite the conversation piece. Got a lot of funny looks and questions.

I picked up a box of Federal Fusion 300g today in anticipation. I probably jinxed myself. I'm finding that ammo very hard to come by (other than outrageous prices on Gun Broker). So I decided to pick it up. $36 for the box. $80/box average on GB. Nuts!

This was almost my choice for the 45/70...but it’s hard to beat the Ruger #1 in my opinion. I’m just a sucker for a Marlin...

And speaking of Marlins...These showed up today. Looks like there is some load development in the near future.

    That’s a tough choice
I’d get whichever one is heavier or will be easier to fit a recoil pad to lol

these might be worth a look too:
Not necessarily this brand but this style....I think a lot of companies do sharps replicas right?
