Just finished my large frame AR class today, have to do final assembly tomorrow morning and will post pictures. .308 stainless shilen barrel with a 1/10 twist, about 23" (I turned it, so the length wasn't really set lol). It's got a black rain ordnance upper on it and a dpms lr-308 lower on it (until my black rain lower transfers in to my ffl). Have a vortex razor hd scope going on it.

Also, I somehow missed the fact that I have a burr from drilling my gas port, what's the best way to remove it?

What do you guys think about the xd9 service? It would be my first gun. Not concealed, at least not for a while

For your first gun, go to a range and rent multiple guns to shoot. For my first gun, I knew I wanted full size and 9 mm, so it sounds like you are on that same track.

I held the XD and the XDm both in 9mm and the XD has a better grip IMO. Are you looking for something with a barrel closer to 4" or 5"? I got a S&W MP9 with the 4.25" barrel, and have since added a walther PPQ .40 with the 4.1" barrel, but I have it in mind to get a pistol with the 5" barrel one day. The longer barrel length in pistols is not as common.

On my MP9, the only time it has jammed since I have gotten it is when I had an aftermarket 32 round magazine loaded with about 34 rounds. Anytime I have done it with the 17 round magazines, or the 32 loaded with only 32, it does great.

I was just at a gun show holding a bunch. I'm most likely going to go with a 4" barrel. I was looking at the sig p250 glock 19 and xd 9. The xd felt the best between the glock and xd. They didn't have many p250 though so I may like them better.

I've been wanting to go to the range but have been a little lazy since the one I know of is always busy.

I'll have to look more into those. I'm more leaning towards the xd9, I think its the cheapest too.

AMAZING FIREARM & looks like todays SAW…….
even more rarer than the gun was the 12 magazine back pack. This gun breaks down for paratroopers.1941 Johnson http://youtu.be/aWIRjid5k7w

The xd9 is a great firearm. It gets a lot of grief from Glock lovers because of its reputation as kind of a Glock knock-off, but when I shot it and the Glock19 side by side years ago, there was no doubt that the Springfield was the better option for me as polymer handguns go. Better ergos, better heft, better trigger, ambi mag release and the mags ALWAYS drop free. I've been shooting it for years, and it has never disappointed me. Every once in a while, I get new gun envy, but I always get over it. Get some Talon grip tape for it and the feel is unbeatable.
