Since you mention insurance, I'm curious what (if any) everyone has. I'd like to see a mod or the OP add a poll for a temporary period, or maybe there is already a thread dedicated to the use, cost, and experience in using the various offerings.

I currently do not have any sort of insurance despite being licensed to carry for over 15 years. If I can reasonable remove myself and my family from a bad situation, that is my primary concern. That said, the cost seems to have come way down since I first looked at them. I hope that I NEVER have to fire a weapon anywhere other than the range or while hunting.

quoting myself here. This leads me to question my own EDC.

I currently carry a first gen Shield 40. I've always hated the trigger in it and several years ago I replaced the trigger with one from Hyve Technologies. It uses the same trigger bar and (I think) spring as the original. Now that I type that, it might use a different spring. I can't recall. It's a black boot with a blue safety bar in the middle. At the same time, I put one of their blue anodized aluminum American flag rear slide covers on. For no reason other than I like to tinker and customize things and this was relatively cheap.

The slide cover with the American flag on it is hardly offensive, but it provides no reasonable benefit to the operation of the firearm. Obviously, this isn't a punisher logo or anything that could be seen as aggressive; but our political climate has changed and I could see that being used to paint a picture of ones character as a 2A activist gun nut.

I jam them under my beds and couches. Additional benefit is that it keeps cats from hanging out under there and scratching shit!

Wood. I’ve heard possible jamming issues until they’re cleaned or broken in

That's a good idea. I'm also cleaning out the closet, so I'll stack hard cases flat on the floor and hang the soft case. Thank you!

    CPL renewal class today. Yay.

But, I think I will try to get some range time after since I will be at the range.

CPL Renewal class finished. Application sent in and paid. Good to have that out of the way. I guess taking a class is all based on the honor system, but if you ever got into something and they check you can get in trouble.

Is a course required upon every renewal (x years)?

Yes, every 4. You go over the laws and anything that has changed then you have to go to the range and pass a basic marksmenship class. Some places you use your own pistol. Other they provide it. I got to use my CZP07. The instructor was liking it.

Kinda sucked how expensive ammo is at the moment. I feel bad for any people with low income that want an CPL and they probably need it more than most.

Interesting how state laws vary. Here in ME it's also 4 years, but you only need to provide a certificate (copy) from a previous certification course. You lose it though and a new course is required. I like the idea of brushing up on any new laws or changes.

    What does CPL stand for?
I figure you're talking about a concealed carry permit but I only know that acronym as Commercial Pilots License.
Can't figure it out for CCW.

NVM... Google says Concealed Pistol License

    Just different states terminology

In SC you go to training and take a test once. Then after that, you send them $50 every 5 years to renew.
