Yeah I don't prefer safeties for carry guns either. A good holster and safe habits are all you should need. Tried to convince my uncle to swap but he prefers it oldschool so I won't bug him too much. Better to go with what you're familiar with.

    This.

    Also, this.

    and this.

Not this. Though, that is controlled by the thing between your ears, so I guess this too in a way, but not really....

Has anyone else ever tried AlphaWolf barrels (USA made barrel from Lonewolf) in a Glock?

I picked up a couple last summer, one for a G19, and one for a 17L which I planned to use it as a "conversion" barrel to run 9mm in my G35, but could run it in my G17 as well if I can get over how far it sticks out of the slide.

I haven't tried out the 6" barrel yet, but when I swapped in the barrel on my G19 at the range, the POI seemed to shift down about 4" and maybe 2.5" to the left at a range of 10 yd. I wasn't shooting it from a vise with either barrel, and had run 100 rounds through a couple of guns before getting to shooting the G19 with the AlphaWolf barrel and since it was my first time out in almost a year, I can't rule out the possibility that I was maybe a little more tired than I'm willing to admit at that point (and maybe got a little lazy with my grip/breathing attention).

After that I tried running 50 rd through my G26 (which is my most recently purchased gun and I haven't run a lot of rounds with it, but shot impressively well with it the first time out) with the OEM G19 barrel installed, and wasn't hitting as far off as I was with the aftermarket barrel in the G19.

For this day out at the range, I was using flat-nosed 135gr 9mm FMJ ammo, so it was a little slow anyway but was the same loads in all of the barrels/configurations so whatever variation I had probably wasn't anything to do with the ammo. I did have a couple of FTF jams on the Lone Wolf with the flat nosed rounds.

I’m curious, are those aftermarket barrels worth the money? Or is it all just bling for the gun? I find my factory shooting Glocks are pretty accurate.

pretty much all my Glock aftermarket barrels are LW and a couple of those are AW (except my G29 KKM). I got them as they are all threaded, and have had no issues

Think most pistols are more accurate then the person shooting them anyway.

But some are more accurate than others. I can ping a 6” steel target at 50 yards with my CZ. My Glocks can do it, but not as consistently.

Amazon special. Works out really well and has a few magnetic parts holders built into the silicone.

Yeah that could certainly be true, but I shoot all of my guns the same way. And the CZ just shoots much tighter groups than all of my others can.

Initially I went looking to get just a 9mm barrel to fit my G35 as a "conversion" option. I've also thought about going with KKM to get some "match grade" barrels for my longer glocks (G17, G35). The G35 is one that I bought used, so I don't know how many rounds have been put through the OEM barrel that I have which is also why I wanted to have an option. I think part of it might have also been trying to get a total order from Midway over the free shipping threshold when I picked up the TDV controls and tritium sights for the G26 I bought last Dec.

With the price point for the AlphaWolf (might have been on a pretty deep sale markdown), I ended up getting a G19 barrel as well just because, with the thinking being that I'd then be able to run a longer barrel in my G26 as a backup if I have to start carrying when L.A. degenerates into a "Mad Max" scenario.

Since I'm in CA, threaded barrels are illegal (what isn't though?) even if they're only threaded for a compensator instead of a suppressor.

Other than stepping up to a tighter chamber or even a match-grade (maybe trading a bit of feed reliability for tighter grouping), a lot of after-market barrels will handle hard cast bullets which factory Glock barrels can have issues with. My HK USP Elite with a match barrel won't run steel cased ammo well (had one FTF and a couple FTE jams in 50 rounds when I took some to the range without realizing it, so I'd assume a custom match barrel in a glock might do the same.

"Worth the money" for me is still TBD. I had the money to spare when I bought the ones I have, and chose to spend it on that purchase not knowing for sure that it'd be a good decision in the end. I was a bit apprehensive since I've seen mixed reviews of Lone Wolf barrels (I do use some of their other parts, especially the connectors and springs for the "poor man's trigger job"), but the negatives I've seen are almost all on the foreign-manufactured ones which is why I went with the alpha wolf instead.

Glocks have a little extra clearance in the chamber (thousandths of an inch) than other makes. They do that deliberately to increase reliability and ability to feed almost any kind of ammo you'll pick up; Sigs and HK can be a little more "picky" about what they'll run without jamming more often than most shooters would like. It also probably allows them to do things like run 5-10k rounds jam free without being cleaned (I think there was a vid on YT claiming to have run 17k without ever cleaning it).

The trade off there is that the cartridge having a tiny bit of "wiggle" increases the group size a little when shooting from a vise. I think most glocks will do a 1" group at 25 or 50 yards (going from memory, I haven't read reviews in years), whereas the reviews I saw on the HK USP elite before I bought it said it put 3 rounds through the same hole at 50 yards firing from a vise (tradeoff is that gun won't even run steel-cased ammo without jamming when it's pristine)

Most all modern pistol / revolvers will shoot better than the person holding them.

Well, if I can keep my shots on a 6” circle at 50 yards, I’m happy! Lol. My pistol is 100% for self defense and definitely won’t be defending myself at 50 yards with it. More like 10 yards are less.

I shoot freehand standing as well. Never shot a pistol from a bench before.
