I discovered recently that I don't like hammer fired semi auto pistols. I shot one at the range recently and put about 75 rounds through it and just did not enjoy the dual trigger pull, and the sloppiness of the trigger. I much prefer striker fire. Anyone else?

There's a whole lot more to that then whether or not the pistol has a hammer. A good 1911 single action will put any striker fired pistol to shame. A long heavy double action trigger pull is something that takes a lot more practice to shoot well compared to a striker fired trigger. I have several DA/SA hammer fired pistols that have an excellent trigger pull in single action.

I like the ease of the striker, with the same trigger pull ever single time with basically no slop. Maybe it's because that's what I'm used to, but when I went to shoot the hammer one, I kind of hated it.

what hammer fired pistol are you shooting with this complaint? Curious because I have several and haven’t had any of that experience. But mine are all either DA/SA or SAO

It was a Beretta 92FS 9mm. Absolutely beaufitul pistol, and one I've been a fan of ever since seeing Die Hard and Lethal Weapon. Great looking movie gun. But when I went to shoot it, I just didn't enjoy all its differences from the Glock. Glock is no frills, and honestly kind of bland, but I love how effortless and simple it is. Same with Sig.

Interesting. I have a 92FS and it is super easy to shoot. It is DA/SA, and super easy to shoot SA.

Is this one that you own, or rented/borrowed? Do you know if it was American or Italian made?

Would like to get you guys thoughts on here. I did some horse trading with a local outdoor store here.

He had an almost new John Deere I needed and I had some things he wanted.

my question for you is this. If you had to keep only one of the two, which would be it.
    Sig Legion P226 (9mm)
    Or
    FN FNX45

    Thoughts?

I all depends on which one you like better, shoots better.
    Then you have your answer.

Edit; I like JB's answer myself

I appreciate y’all’s responses. While I was there I saw and handled a Zev 226. I have never seen one in person.

It was nice feeling…not sure I liked it over the Legion. But it was nice, and super smooth.

For 2k it should have been smooth as butter.

I believe it's the American made version. Went to the range with some different people and one of them let me shoot their's. I had wanted to because I love the look of it. It's iconic. And it's not hard to shoot, I just don't like the slop in the trigger and how the first shot is different from the rest (if you don't pull the hammer back). Comparing it to the Glock, I love how every shot is the same with no slop.

Triggers are fairly easy to fix these days.
Twenty years ago you'd have to take it to a guy that was two parts clock maker, one part magician, and had been blessed by the band Toto. Now with CNC advances and modern metallurgy, you can get drop in kits for almost everything.

If you like the platform and get good enough that you are better than the trigger, then get the trigger fixed. Just make sure it's the trigger that's the weak link. If you replace it and still have issues....

No doubt if I spent a lot of time with it I'm sure it'd become like second nature. And it's definitely not difficult to shoot. But just for preference, I like the function of the striker better. I guess it's like comparing a stickshift to an automatic.

Speaking of drop in kits, I put a drop in kit in a semi auto Mossberg and the thing has shot literally perfect every single time since, regardless of ammo. Prior to the kit, no matter what I shot and no matter how clean I got it, it would jam about every 2-3 shells. The drop in kit is magic!

Mine is the Italian made. Maybe that's a difference? No slop in my trigger, and I'm surgical with it. Don't rule it out after one bad experience...try another.
