What’s the rundown on Tikka rifles? I’m looking at the T3X super light in 300wm for backcountry elk.

I don’t want to spend a fortune and this one keeps popping into the balanced cost/reliability category. Tell me the good, bad, and ugly from your experience

They can be super light, super fancy, and super expensive depending on how you option them. Bulletproof reliability. Accuracy is great, but honestly you could tweak a Remington for a fraction of the price, it all comes down to whether you want something really nice or not.

If you plan on humping it out into the deep wilderness, the lighter the better because every pound begins to drag on you.

My dad has one in 308 that has only hunted targets.

Yea backpacking and backcountry hunting is in my blood so I’m always trying to go as light as possible while maintaining comfort and durability.

I’ve never owned tikka so I know very little about them. It’ll stay stock aside from leupold glass and a sling.

    Thanks for the info!

For $34 I figure it’s worth a roll of the dice. If they don’t work, I’ll keep them to give to friends I don’t like that much who tag along when I go shoot

Out doors, basically any muffs will do the job. In doors, I'm wearing plugs with my muffs too so you should be good to go either way.

I don't see where they claim they are from the US? Designed and manufactured are different.

They are pretty similar but these are their own brand. The range I go to sells these in their store and I have a few buddies with em and haven't heard any complaints. Really good buy at $35 IMO.

I have the HL version. Invest in a pair of gel-pads. Makes a world of difference, especially on extended range days! 20 bucks on Amazon...

What is the muzzle device? What are the cover bits on the side and bottom of the handguard? I just finished one not long ago and loving it in a pistol configuration so always looking at options

So do you shoot it with the stock fully collapsed? Or is the eye relief of that scope really that long?

im using Griffin Armament Taper mount (plan a) with a Griffin Explorr blast shield. Polonium 30 on back order.

Vism mlok covers from Optics Planet.

no but i do have a 3d printed limiter on all my ar stocks to lock out the last position, kinda short arms. The eye relief of these sig tango MSR 1-6 isnt bad, ive got two of em. Im thinking of putting a prism and a magnifier on this build tho.

I'm 2 months in on my Polo 30 jail time.. excited for it for sure. Have shot through my Buddies Polo 30 and it's definitely a nice can.

Also, prism + magnifier is the way. I thought about going lpvo but my dot + magnifier is just so utilitarian to me.. it's hard to beat. I run a Holosun 403 + Holosun 3x magnifier.

I put the Swampfox Raider on this last project and very impressed so far. Should work very well with a magnifier

Couldn't resist when I saw my LGS had a 300 on the wall. Picked it up as well as a Magpul MOE K grip and a new Holosun SCRS then borrowed my folding brace off my Sig pistol to go break it in. Ran Subs and Supers no problem both with and without a Can (buddy's OCL Polonium 30 while I'm waiting for my Polonium 30). 6 position adjustable block works great and was able to really dial it in. Was nice being able to run it with the can I'll be using as well to fully see how it would do. Really enjoying it so far.
