    To build:
Buy a stripped lower and have it registered as a pistol, then install a lower parts kit with either a plain buffer tube or a Sig-Brace, and build or buy a upper.
Make sure you put a bullet button on it.

    To buy:
Go to the local gun store and tell them you would like to buy a AR pistol, same procedure as buying a standard pistol.

You can't buy a stripped lower and have it registered as a pistol.

To build: easiest way is the 80% route.

Timmy, go seek answers on Calguns. If you haven't don't your research then building an AR pistol will be a little more complicated than you might expect. I reccomend you just buy one. Look at Phase5Tactical. They put out so beautiful AR pistols.

really? doesn't really surprise me though.

I never built a AR pistol when i was in Ca, just a standard rifle.

I'm not a "real" Californian, ok? I live here because of the weather and outdoor opportunities.

Shit, if I could get the woman to move with me and I was able to find a job that offered what I currently make with the same perks I'd be there in no time.

I have a bit of a specialty job and the woman is a doctor that practices a specific area of medicine so it's kinda difficult for us to find jobs just anywhere.

University of Texas has several huge research hospitals.. I worked for one in Tyler Texas before I moved to NC.

Only downside was the folks coming from overseas practiced for the driving exam in the parking lot and so there were countless times I had to go out and make a report because one of them hit someone's brand new Mercedes, or BMW, etc.. It was a nightmare sometimes haha

Seen those but had forgot about them, if I get a truck gun it'll be the rifle version of that with a folding stock (su-16c)

That would be the way to do it. Not disassembling it wouldn't get you very good results.

So I'm taking a 1911 build course this week with jim Garthwaite. Got my barrel almost finished with fitting today. The class is starting out with a standard Springfield milspec and installing a kart match barrel, beaver tail, better trigger, hammer, and sear, checkering the front of the grip and a couple other things. I've picked up a couple tricks already today in just the first day.

Anyways, we are also installing new front and rear sights. The rear is a heinie and the front I can't remember a brand, but it will have a gold bead in the front sight, has anyone used a front sight like that?

    Also, pictures tomorrow lol

And a link to the class info, so far I highly recommend it

I haven't used a sight like that but I know it's a classic look. Stainless or blue? If blue, how are you refinishing? I know nothing about barrel ramps & hoods but I have done a beavertail safety conversion on a Springfield GI. Good solid gun to start with. Post some pics when done!

I believe the finish choice is either Teflon moly kote or similar I think and matte blue. Me Garthwaite is doing the finishing because of time constraints, we are doing all the fitting and building work in the class. I am pretty sure in gonna go with blued though

He is going to have it after the class for finishing and I am considering having him put a high power cut on the slide like the Wilson combat pinnacle.

Oh, and I got I look at a gun with the same sight set up. I like it a lot so far, shooting it will tell for certain though
