Curious what the difference is between a 5.56 and 30cal can on a 5.56. I run a 30cal on my Sig 5.56 (my main bitch) and it does take the snap out, but also use it for my 300blk and others.. but have wondered what going to a dedicated 5.56 would be like.

I'm a big fan of that FA sized BCG. Don't know why, they just seem to run a little smoother. Purely a non-scientific opinion.

I find a BFD (Big f... ahhh no, Blast Forwarding Device) takes the bit out at the bench.

It really depends on the rifle and can, I have 2 very similar cans (griffin Explorr .300 and Recce 5 Mod 4) as far as build materials, size, and baffle design, the primary difference between the two other than caliber is the Recce 5 is a tube style can and the Explorr is tubeless.
I find gas to the face to be similar but the Recce 5 has a deeper tone, it sounds the best to me on my 13.7” upper.

Since one of my ‘tisms is stamp collecting I’m planning on trying some more dedicated caliber cans in the future, but I’ll probably stick with Griffin armament or “hub compatible” cans that I can adapt to my Griffin muzzle devices, but currently the Recce 5 is the only 556 can that I have to try, I can say that there is a marked difference in how loud .46 and .36 (9mm) bore cans are on 556 and .30 cal guns vs the 556 guns with .30 cans.

On a side note I shot a .22 through a 9mm bore can and was surprised how quiet it was. So I tend to think the velocity of the gasses is more important than the overbore difference.

    On a side note,

My issue with the tubeless cans have been if you get a baffle strike. Happened to a buddy. Griffin was pretty cool about it. They offered to fix it or send him a new one, but you know, you’d have to draft up new paperwork for the new one. I’m sure it’s not a super common thing, but still.

Yeah, I’ve seen a few different manufacturers explicitly move the serialization to the rear of the can so in case of baffle strikes the can is more likely to be able to be repaired but as of yet I haven’t had a baffle strike thankfully.

I do like the light weight of the tubeless design but it definitely heats up faster and there’s a mental factor in how tough the can feels with the weight difference.

I've used many bfd like the surefire warden, q whistle tip, and actually the taper griffin one b/c I use griffin taper mounts. I'm not sure if it was me wanting them to be effective or if they actually were but they did seem to make it a little more enjoyable for the people around. But after I got my recce 5 can, I sold them all and never looked back.

Was able to put a few rounds through the 502 with my Cash 9k Can. Ran with no problems and was still fairly quiet with the 9mm suppressor and supers. Excited to try it with subs and my JK 22 Can.
