if I wasnt already running a MOE one one, and going full float with the other, I'd rock one of those

if I get a chance to handle one I might swap it if I like it though....

That does look good, I'll probably be going with magpul furniture on my 300 BLK SBR.

Options for a good lightweight free float hand guard? I want something simple and light for my 6.8 build, I wouldn't mind being able to add a short rail, and I need a bipod mount.

I'm going with the MOE stock and hand guard on my build. I've had them on other builds and really liked them.

My build is a S&W lower with JP trigger group, mil spec buffer tube, and PSA upper. BCG and CH still need to be purchased. I'll have the upper on the 3rd and will be getting the BCG and CH soon after that.

Samson Evolution is my fav and I've tried most of them., either the original or the new keymod if you're into that. Light & strong. Uses a normal barrel nut. Smooth design and you can mount rails anywhere or nowhere. If you're just flush with cash, Geissele makes a great hand guard for like $300.

Anyone have any experience with the Sig Scorpion 1911?

I got a guy offering one in trade for my Smith 629 with Leupold glass on it

Value isn't quite equal, but value of Sig seems to be higher than what I have in the Smith...and assuming it hasn't been molested, actual current values don't matter so much to me as having a gun I might actually take out and enjoy and shoot.

    Thoughts?

    EDIT
For reference here is the link to my revolver

And what I believe to be the gun being offered in trade (waiting on confirmation)

Would probably be a good trade. Overall the Sig Scorp is a nice pistol. I shot one a while ago and liked it.

I'm personally not a fan of extended slide releases; when using the proper grip (thumbs forward) the release can be hit and the slide locked open inadvertently. If the ejection port was lowered and flared too, it'd be a bonus. For the price I would've thought Sig would have done that.

If value is close enough and you want the Sig more than the Smith then go for it.

So I got this new to me 30-30 contender yesterday and I can feel the gears in my head turning. Since it is a contender I don't have to worry about round nose or spitzer bullets. I'm seriously debating a 220 grain subsonic load and threading the barrel for a can....am I crazy or a genius

Oh, picture of said contender. It is a first generation contender. The serial number (20xxx) puts its manufacture date in 1972

It's a 14" barrel, my next barrel is gonna be a 16" 45-70 barrel with a stock on the gun. Want to make a deer thumper lol (and yes, I'm debating a suppressor for it as well)

That gun is sweet, dude, but you'll be really lucky if you get stability out of a 220 gr bullet. I play around with a 300 BLK bolt gun I built and I'm in a similar circumstance. AAC went from 1:8" to 1:7" twist to better stabilize the 240 gr bullets. Even 220 gr is marginal (but usually stable) in a 1:8" twist gun. A 1:14" twist would be pretty dicey with such a long 30 cal bullet.

On a positive note, a spitzer 170 gr bullet at 1000 fps is going to punch straight through a deer with no expansion, just like a 220 gr would. So you really don't get much more out of a bullet going from 150 to 200 gr when you're pushing both at subsonic speeds. Don't get too hung up on the weight of the bullet.

I'm wondering if a flat point cast lead bullet might work better. My back up option is supressing a .45 colt or 45-70
