I tested these out when I was buying my 308. The action to me felt a little cheap and flimsy. The Savage XP action just felt a lot more solid.

But I'm sure its a great gun, gotten tonnes of good reviews.

I'm going to disagree with this one point. If you have enough fine motor skill to operate a trigger you can operate a thumbe safety or slide release ( I hear the same arguement about that). On the flip side some people don't have enough fine motor skill to properly operate a trigger, even without the stress of a life or death situation so...ehhh

    Either way Glock for me.

I have a beretta nano for the reason there are no controls. If in a situation I dont want operator error. I dont know how I would react, and I hope I never have to find out.

Pulling a trigger is damn near instinctual for most human beings regardless of level of training. You hand a handgun to someone who has never touched one before and they will likely point the gun at an attacker and start squeezing the trigger even if they know nothing of the type of firearm they hold. Some will argue that training enough will make it so that removing the manual safety will become muscle memory to where it's instinctual too but how much training it actually takes in the event of a life or death situation is debatable. I will argue that most people won't train that much... whatever that number is.

Whether it's lack of finite dexterity (pulling a trigger takes much less finite dexterity than engaging or disengaging a manual safety) or lack of training it's still something that has been documented numerous times. I've seen videos & recall one specifically that was shown during basic handgun training (required for CCW) that showed a hotel employee that was working behind the desk. Of all the shit I've seen over the years that one stands out the most even though it was so many years ago. A couple of BG's came in to rob the place and the employee believed their life was in immediate danger based on whatever they said/did. The employee had a concealed handgun and presented it plainly in the video and after what seemed like several seconds of what looked like jerking movements (as if they were struggling with the gun) was shot dead by the bad guy or bad guys. The gun was found w/o a round fired and the safety still on and was otherwise in perfect working order. If the person had a handgun w/o a manual safety they might still be alive. Seeing something like that makes it real. It can and does happen and no amount of training or machismo can guarantee that if faced with a life or death situation we won't all react the same. For my carry weapon I want NO switches, levers or bells & whistles. I want it to go Bang! every time I pull the trigger and don't carry about all that other bullshit that adds more complexity to go wrong... regardless of to what degree. Any is too much IMO.

Besides, what good does a manual safety do? What positive comes from it? If you learned the four rules of firearm safety a manual safety never comes into play anyway other than adding a false sense of security which is when one of the four rules gets looked over and someone gets hurt.

If the Axis had a 18" barrel I'd probably go with it. Yea, I could have it cut down, but thats at least another $100.

Hell a shop near me has the 11/111 Trophy Hunters (with nikon glass) for $425 plus tax.

S&W 637 here for daily carry. G23 sometimes, but I'm not a very big guy, so hiding that one isn't as easy. The airweight is the most uncomfortable gun I have ever shot, and training with it is miserable, but it will go bang every time. Most of my range time, and all my formal training is with my 1911, because its comfortable and fun to shoot.

Anybody in here have a P239? Wondering how difficult it is to rack the slide compared to other small single stacks

I got my PAWL-3FDE today. They said it comes with batteries. It did not. And CR123 batteries are $25 for two. FAWK. But the light is cool once I bought some batteries. Hopefully they'll send me some.

Pretty good track record from everyone I know with one. I've never owned one but have considered it many times.
