Yeah that's a real expensive 22. I recently got a ruger 10/22 and man is it ever fun. And $269 :D

I'm forever plagued by being left handed

Problem being, i want bolt action and ruger will not make a left handed bolt action rim fire rifle. And if they did, they'd probably ask almost a grand for it because their right handed model is almost that ridiculous :(

The only thing in my price range is a Savage and i unfortunately do not care for them.

I guess i'll have to buy something old/used and build up from there.

Anyone have any ideas? Keep in mind, .22magnum is the only caliber i am interested in.

I asked for a nice .22 for my birthday last year and my wife picked up a Remington 547 for me. I was like a deer in the headlights staring at it after opened. But, it damn sure is a shooter.

Get training! Spend lots of time at the range! Practice... practice... practice...

If you're planning on carrying the SIG, pick up a copy of the "Arizona Gun Owners Guide" by Alan Korwin. It'll be a good reference in addition to any training you get.

First day at the range with my first gun the GP 100 4.2" though I'd been shooting three times before this. Was a good time but after exactly 150 rounds the cylinder would bind as I went to close it. Thinking the forcing cone was hot and perhaps it was binding there I let it cool for a few minutes, same problem. Figuring maybe things were just dirty from the cheap ammo I bought I packed up and came home to go to the wise internets to look at the problem.

Low and behold the interwebz revealed a possibility and I wiped under the ejector rod on the rear of the cylinder. Low and behold, the cylinder closed right up with no additional resistance . Oh well I learn something new every day!

    Lol.
Mine does the same thing if you're shooting dirty ammo or put a lot of rounds through it without a wipedown. I haven't had any trouble with it lately, but I'm not sure if it's that it's getting broken in or I'm just doing a better job of cleaning the ejector rod because of the trouble it's given me in the past. :notsure:

Fun gun to shoot, though, isn't it?!

    Heck yeah! :D

It seems to shoot about 4-6" to the right at 30 yards but I seem to be flinching sometimes.

I figure I'll do ~100 rounds a weekend for a month or two to familiarize myself with it. Oh and get some rubber grips, the wooden ones look nice but my hand was a tiny bit sore after 75-100 rounds and there was a bit more recoil then the GP100 I rented a month ago that had the Hogue rubber grips.

Are you shooting 38's or the full power 357's? Because if you're new to shooting you should stick with 38's to avoid developing a tendency to flinch. Once you get used to the recoil (and the noise) of the 38's then try moving up to the 357's.

One way to test to see if you're flinching is to load the cylinder with 4 live shells and two empties, spin it, and start shooting. If the gun jerks when you drop the hammer on an empty cylinder, you're flinching.

I did 38's for a box, and then moved up to .357's but I think you're right I should probably stick to .38's for a while until I get used to it all.

Ball and dummy is a great drill to help with flinching. Are you left handed? Most of the time flinching pushes rounds left, with someone that is right handed anyway.
