    Yep ^.
I do not carry inside my home although, I have weapons that are strategically placed throughout. Such as holstered next to my living room chair, media room chair, in office, mattress holster in room, etc..

Yeah, I don't carry one around with me inside the house either. But there's several loaded firearms scattered around the house, so I'm never more than a few steps away from one.

My dad owns one and he let me take it on a duck hunt. All I can say is a pump action shotgun should rarely jam if ever. There were multiple times where the gun was locked in battery and it took me slamming the gun down on the deck to unlock the action. I'm a pretty big guy so it's not like I wasn't pumping it hard enough (which shouldn't take that much effort). The gun was faly new and was well maintained and oiled. The conditions where a light rain and it was 60F, although I doubt that had anything to do with it.

IMHO if you want a Remington pump go with a proven 870. If you want a more plastic weather resistant gun go with a Beneli Nova. A nova shits on a 887 in my opinion.

That's weird. I use my 887 for rabbit hunting during the winter, and partridge or turkey hunting in the rain. I've literally tripped and fallen during the winter and packed the action full of snow, had it out all day in a pouring rain in temps from the upper 30's to the mid 60's and never had any problem with it jamming. :notsure:

Obviously not there for 132 years, but definitely been there a long damn time.
It's cool that they're going to preserve it as-is, too.

I do to an extent yet chalk that up to human nature. I have a well thought out system. The guns are not in view, ie holstered on the blind side of furniture or . Nor would they be seen unless a person knew where to look for them.

It could have been a variety of different variables to cause the jamming. I have a buddy who had the same luck with his, hunting waterfowl, on a few occasions. I'm staying away from 887, but I still want a 870 tactical pretty badly to shoot 3 gun with.

Weird. Sorry to hear about the issues with yours (or your friends/family's), but so far no problems at all with mine; I love it.

Hard to beat an 870, though.

...I hate so say it, ..but this is an instance where I feel compelled to dust off my flamesuit, and get up on the soapbox for an instant...

...basketball shorts are for.... basketball... not for carrying a loaded firearm, ...do the right thing, and wear a proper belt and pants... ;)

Just to be devils advocate here

You're saying that I should have to put on pants and a belt to walk my dogs in the yard instead of my sweatpants/athletic shorts?

...are you carrying a loaded firearm in athletic shorts?... i'm merely raising the salient point that there are responsible ways to carry a loaded firearm, ..and not so responsible ways to carry a loaded firearm... doesn't matter "where" you're carrying it, ...the "responsible" component to the equation doesn't discriminate... ;)

Sometimes I do...because I'm not going to change clothes just to walk the dogs

IWB holster with a clip tucked into the waistband of securely tied sweats or athletic shorts
