I have one. It's older than me and you put together and still shoots like new. The only negative thing is that the old ones that slam fire only have 2 3/4" chambers. As light as they are maybe that is a positive...

Someone fired a .300 blackout round out of a 5.56 rifle. A .30 caliber bullet doesn't fit down a .22 caliber tube and the energy has to go somewhere.

    :drevil:

How did they even load the 300blk into the mag without noticing the different case dimensions, though? They must have been loading by feel or something.
Glad nobody got hurt. Good reminder to always wear protection!!!

Indeed. Nothing like a toddler having a supermarket meltdown to convince me that I'm happy with my dog.
So remember kids, whether you're using your rifle or your gun, always wear protection! :D

They aren't that different and if you aren't paying close enough attention it would be easy enough to do. Seen plenty of reports of mixing 300blk rounds into a 223 gun.

Its part of why I follow the only one type of ammo out at a time rule.

    They're not that close.
That's why I was speculating that they were loading by feel. They're close enough that if you were loading by touch and chatting or something that it'd be an easy mistake, but if you were looking at the rounds as you were loading them (like I usually have to do, because I suck at loading by touch) you'd have noticed the difference.

So I'm designing a bed that has firearm storage in the foot and would like to design a quick access drawer for a pistol, any reason not to store it like this, but with the mount attached to the bottom of the drawer?

that will create scratches on the grooves of your twist in your barrel, i wouldn't recommend doing this. Especially if you have a match grade barrel.

The nylon coat they put on the metal should prevent that from happening; surely the soft poly sheath around the wire is less abrasive than a tightly-fitted brass-cased bullet screaming down the barrel at 1200FPS.

i would think if you covered the metal in softer material like heat shrink or fuel line and kept the rod short enough to keep from touching a chambered round it would be fine. just guessing though

Depends how you load you're ammo more than anything. I could see it being fairly easy to screw up if you have a container that stores the ammo bullet down so all you see is the primer.

But im with ya I have to look as I load

That's how the ones I have are. Its a soft plastic material over the metal rod.

Yeah, when the Zombie apocalypse comes they'd better be Shufflers. I reload way too slow to survive if they're the Fast Movers, haha!
