It means a resident of WA can go to Oregon or Idaho and buy a handgun. Or a MA resident visiting Texas could pick up a handgun there.

Currently you have ot have a FFL transfer it from they state you want to buy it to your home state.

Of course there will be some restrictions such as if you buy a handgun in CA you will be limited to their laws (ie 10 round magazines) and same if a CA resident goes to Oregon, he cant buy a gun he cant get in CA.

Is anyone familiar with SVT-40's? Been thinking of picking one up as im not a huge fan of mosins so want something else to shoot up my 762x54r

And recent law changes in California require ANY importation of firearm into the state goes through an FFL (in my case I'm concerned with gifts from my parents that didn't need to go through an FFL previously).

Glad I moved to CA from AZ when I did. I was told by DOJ as long as the pistols were legally able to be owned in CA (10 rd mags needed basically) I could own them here as long as I registered them with the state. Had to sell some stuff, though. A Taurus Judge is considered a short-barreled shotgun here....

Not sure when you lived here but, I moved back to CA 2 years ago. That's when I was told I had to register my pistols with the state. When you buy a new pistol here you do a DROS (dealer's record of sale) which is turned in to the state. You probably already know this though. Since guns brought into the state don't have a DROS, the state wants them to be registered so they can collect fees on them and know what you own.

Here is a link to the form: http://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/agweb/pdfs/firearms/forms/ab991frm.pdf?

I moved to CA in 2012 and left in late 2013 after just under 2 years. I never registered anything with the state, even though I was supposed to. I did buy 2 guns while I was there however.

Glad to be back in Virginia and away from that nonsense.

    Yeah.
Permit is a PITA to get in Ca though, have to show just cause or some BS.

all are good guns, The shield and full size (4.25) fit my hand perfectly, the compact (3.5) doesn't feel right to me.

Our family has a Shield in .40 and it's the most comfortable small gun that I've shot.

    This^^^

Dang it I'm torn, I held off placing my order for the LE trade in M&P, and I ran across some Glock 22's with night sights and 3 mags for $379.99, with corpus christi police shield on the slide.

I've never had a chance to shoot a G22, I was able to run a few magazines through a G17 several years ago but I don't remember how comfortable/uncomfortable it was, and I have put ~150 rounds through a G19, but I don't know how similar the grip/feel is to a G22.

I guess I should say that you're legally supposed to register any pistols you bring into CA. I didn't want to but I was afraid of a situation where I had to use a pistol for home defense and got "caught" with an unregistered pistol.

DROS would have been required in Jan 2013. You would know if was done. You paid for it ($25 fee). And you would have had to sign it, too.

Thanks, I checked them out yesterday and actually like the shield better. I also looked at my tax return/birthday present S&W AR15 Sport, they also have a similar Ruger for the same price, but I think I'll stick with both S&W's. Signed up for my class on the 19th and they laughed when I asked about the registration/permit info, they said dude, this is Utah, you only need a DL to buy a gun. haha

I think to have full auto in Cali you have to be a dealer... And it's for demo purposes only... Just like a supressor

This depends on the county. A number of counties have liberal approval policies. LA, SFO, San Diego and a few others do not, but that may change when Peruta is finally done.

So, hunting on Sat went very well but, my Benelli SBE2 was stove piping on me. Decided to tear it down and clean it. Found the lower is cracking on the inside towards the magazine tube. Contacted Benelli with pics and about to find out what their plan is.
