Cylinder locks up well, not perfect, but the only "perfect" lockup I've felt was on a high end custom ruger

The lock up on them is about the same, with the edge going to the 28-2, but only just

Hmm...could have been repaired incorrectly and have excessive cylinder gap maybe? Or maybe a worn forcing cone? No major endshake?

No end shake to speak of that I can tell. The cylinder gap is tight. I don't think anyone has been inside the gun though I may be wrong

For all I know it the same when comparing all 19s and 28s

How can I check the forcing cone?

Open the cylinder and look at the breech end of the barrel. All you're looking for is obvious defects - a chunk missing or bad corrosion. Other than that I don't know, man. Maybe just a perceived difference in side blast since the 19 should be lighter than the 28 and therefore have more recoil?

I'm not a S&W expert for sure. I have 4 of them at last count but only one is a 357.

I feel my face get peppered with powder when shooting it and not the 28

Recoil is definitely more on the 19 though. Still no where near my .45 colt ruger loads though

Only the top one is finished. All the FDE will be gone soon. Couldn't pass up a good deal, but I am just not a fan.

Anyone ever designed a private range? I have the equipment to move the dirt and I have the land (~80 acres) but I don't know how tall to make the berms.
I was thinking of a basic design like so |_|

Total range length will be 200-300 YDS, I want targets at 100 and 200 (And possibly 300) and then pistol distance also. Do I need berms at each target distance?

I would do berms at each distance.

I'd set up 2 ranges....1 for pistols with its own berm...probably 8-10 feet tall should do it and then 1 for rifles out to 200 or whatever

That's what I was thinking, I can put the longest target down the center and closer targets staggered on each side.

I could do them side by side, We don't shoot high volume or with a lot of people usually so I think I could get away with a 25ft wide berm that's 10 Ft tall and has berms running ~15 yds towards the shooters for pistols.

80 desert acres is different than 80 southeast acres...I have 120 but can really only stretch stuff out to 200 meters or so
