I work at a range, this is true. Our guns rarely ever get cleaned. And same thing, if someone reported an issue, most just throw it into the sonic cleaner.

Old fashion? I prefer classic. Hard to beat the MKIIs. I have several of the standard and 22/45 versions as well as MKIIIs. I prefer the MKIIs and won't pass up a good deal on them.

If it's strictly for plinking get a .22 then. Unless she REALLY REALLYREALLY wants her own glock, she can shoot yours whenever she's at the range.

Ruger's Mark III, 22/45, and Browning's Buckmark are by far the most popular 22 pistols. You can get a standard one for around $300.

Used S&W model 41s are another good option for the 1911 shooters. They are a bit pricey new, but I've seen some good pawn shop prices. They are a step up from the ruger/browning options in fit, finish, and accuracy.

Got two ammo cans and 100rds of .223 surplus. All for free!

The tall one has some minor rust on it/inside the bottom around the edges. Is there anyway to clean it up without scratching everything to hell or just best to leave alone?

Depends on how in-depth you want to get. You'd have to repaint regardless, either to keep the rust from spreading or to keep new rust from starting on the bare steel you exposed.
Or you can oil the crap out of the rusty spots and use them as-is. :notsure:

if its just light rust just clean it quickly (wire brush) and spray it with a "rust reformer" spray paint. its cheap but has been effective for me on other items. Ammo cans are pretty cheap so i wouldnt spend much time on it personally unless you were doing something custom (fancy paint job).

I know it's CTD, but they listed 3360 rounds of yugo surplus 7.62x39 for $342. Comes out to $0.118 per round shipped for me:

    http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/02808

Must be a listing error but still worth a shot
