Couple reasons, I guess, but mostly just caliber consolidation. I reload 38/357 and 45 ACP, and 9mm is usually cheap enough that I just buy loaded ammo. Since there are very few gun models available in 40 that aren't also available in 9mm, it's just something I avoid. I think the 40 is a great caliber, but I'm already heavily vested in 9mm and don't have much desire to gear up to support another caliber.

Didn't think I'd get so many answers.

My first pistol was a 40 and I liked it. But I have since bought a 9mm and I am already shooting more for less money so that it is a huge advantage. I'm not passionately opposed to 40 like some people I've met, but I do see the advantages of caliber consolidation.

I'm selling my XD Mod.2 .40 to one of my coworkers next month.
Looking for a suitable replacement.

The G43 is ideal, but I reeeeeally don't want a Glock, as I'm a Springfield fanboy.
So far I've carried a 4" XD .40, a Shield .40 and this XD Mod.2 .40.

I'm phasing out all of my .40's, and don't want to carry a .45.
If I can't find a good little 9mm, then I'll carry my little SA 1911 "Loaded Champion Operator" that I made.

Only problem with the 1911 is that it's heavier than shit, even in compact form.
We keep clothing light, and to a minimum, here in Vegas, especially during summer.

Ruger and Taurus are a no-go in my world, and the G43 is a last resort.
Although the G43 is at the top of the list, it's the only thing on the list.
Looked at the Sig P938, but not sure I like it.
Wanting to stay in the 9mm realm, .40 is not out of the equation, but I don't want one.

Questions, thoughts, comments, concerns, bitches, gripes, moans, and complaints welcome.
I have about 2 months before it starts heating up here.

How did you like the mod 2? Why are you getting rid of it? I was considering getting the mod 2 3" 9mm. I've shot the original xd and liked it a lot but haven't shot a mod 2.

Look at the ones with the 7 round mag with that curved extension....night & day difference (for the better) on how it feels I hand. It shoots like a dream to and is accurate!

Sig makes a P320 in 9mm subcompact as well. Not sure if the dimensions meet your requirements for carry though? Holds 12+1 though which is nice.

Maybe try the Beretta PX4 compact in 9mm. I've had the full frame PX4 in 40 for 8 years and it's run perfectly through thousands of rounds. Just a thought for you.

this Glock 43 single stack 9mm is nice... we have a P226 9mm, but thinking of the small Glock too....
