Actually it's a form 1 to make an SBS, form 4 is buying or transferring from a dealer. I bought this and an Ithaca 37 (slam fire version) with the intent on cutting one short. I liked the idea of the pump gun better so I have a stamp waiting on it currently. I'm a machinist and have access to some CNC machines at work so I am planning on doing some mill work to a glock

Also, if I was gonna cut it down I'd use a hack saw at the range to screw with people then clean it up on a mill

Probably don't need a sight on a scattergun with such a short barrel, but you could if you wanted.

    This ^^^
But you could pretty easily add a sight by finding the center/top and soldering a bead on, or if it's a ribbed barrel just put a fiber optic sight on the rib.

For historical accuracy (and Cowboy Action Shooting) you don't want the sight.

    Gabby Hayes never needed it.

Yeah, I know that, I need to quit posting at 4:45AM with no coffee. That would be fun to start out past where you were going to really cut and go at it with a dremel, hack saw, wood saw ...

Actually when my stamp comes back on the Ithaca I'm doing exactly that. Marking it well then going to the gun range and chopping it down about 1/4 inch past where it will actually be....

I'll either use a hack saw or a sawzall. Either way I'm gonna go on a really pretty day when there will be lots of people....just to screw with people. In really hoping there is a cop or sherif there lol

To to screw with people, nothing I'd be doing is illegal, but entertaining to watch

And I should clarify the cop/sherif thing to one of the ones that I know in the area

Typically "just to screw with people" doesn't really put gun owners in a good light.

Or you'll have some 19 year old kid going home and cutting down shit he bought at walmart because "he saw a guy at the range do it."

It's on him to do the research to make sure it's legal, if he's basing it off of "Well i saw some stranger do it" he's not very bright and would probably do it anyway.

I like reactions, I'm a people watcher so reactions entertain me, considering I'm doing nothing unsafe to illegal

And me showing up with a 13" pump gun at the range instead of sawing it would be any different to said 19 year old kid?

Especially since once one person asks everyone at the range will get a lesson on the NFA including where the local dealers are and what forms to fill out etc... As much as I say I'm doing it to screw with people and watch reactions it's also a good way to explain the NFA to people when they ask

Usually something like "I want to do that legally but I don't want to have the pay $200 per year to do it" or "I don't want to get a class 3 license so I can't do that" (FYI there is no such thing....unless you talk to some of the guys on NFA guns in which someone is making class 3 licenses like drivers licenses and putting stupid names etc. on them)

I can dive in immediately and explain the NFA

You'll have a much more favorable reaction if you came with a SBS than if you cut it down there, imo.

Theres a state owned range a few miles from my parents house. It's the closest free range to Pittsburgh, so there is alllll kinds of people that go there.

Including the wannabe gangsters that bring out their hipoints and hold them sideways. But hey, it's legal.

Yep. May as well cut it up and drill holes in to resemble a door breacher.
