Yeah its definitely something I want to get into but I still have plenty time ahead of me since I'm young, just need to start getting some more free time. I'll start looking into some good .308's then and go from there. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for all the help! I'll start looking into some .308's then since it seems like a great choice for what I need it to do currently. I could also take it Elk hunting if I'm ever able to draw a tag. Yes it is:oldglory:

OK, so those who have shot all three, G43, Shield, or LC9? After handling all three, I think I won't pursue the LC9. I am borrowing a G43 next week to shoot. I'm a 1911 type guy myself, but need a small 9mm that my wife and I can both use. I've heard nothing but good about the shield. Those of you who have had them and can compare them, what do you say?

I've shot my dad's LC9 a few years ago, it's ok. Very snappy though. I liked shooting my buddies shield 9m. I haven't shot the G43 yet. I'm in the same boat as you, hoping to pick up either a shield 9mm or G43 in the next few weeks. I'm a glock guy and I like that the G43 is a little smaller than the shield and I feel that it fits better in my hand. I just hate that it's only a 6+1. For the shield, it fit nicely in my hand, just not as comfortable as the G43. I like the magazine capacity as well. Hard for me chose between the 2 without being biased towards glock since that's all I've owned.

I've shot all three. I did not like the LC9. I really love shooting the Shield. But, went with the G43 just because I like Glocks.

The one and only think I really didn't like about the Shield was its hinge trigger safety thing. Also at the time I didn't realize there was a Shield with no safety model. So I went with Glock. I like safety's on some guns. But not my CCW.

Hyve Industries does a really nice one too for like half the price of TT, I did their +2 extensions on my G43. no issues to date.

I shot all three and ended up buying the Shield. It just felt better in my hand. All of them were equally accurate for me, but the Shield just 'felt' right. And it always presented correctly from a draw without having to readjust my grip/aim to line the sights up properly.

And then I cheated and put a set of crimson trace lasergrips on it anyway :notsure:

Awesome. Got my G43 right when they came out. TT was the only place making the base plates at the time and they were always sold out. Once they were available I bought two.

gonna throw out a Taurus :anonymous: pt111, (I have shot the shield and the lc9 btw) the lc9 trigger is pretty awful to me (and I exclusively carry a revolver for what its worth) they do make a lc9s which is striker fired and should be better, but my original point is the pt111 is about the same size but its a double stack so you get 12+1 (and sig mags fits it and could be 20+1) and its over $100 cheaper than the shield, and it's striker fired, and the reset is super short, but it does have a manual safety but you could just leave it off because it has the mid fin trigger safety

not my gun but I made this owb for a guy I work with

Well then...looks like I just made up my mind on the G43 lol. Getting it at the blue label price is also a big factor.

Taurus has come a long way in recent years, but I'm still not comfortable trusting my life to them with one of their carry guns. Too many bad experiences with a 1911 model of theirs that my cousin owned back in the day that was a Jam-O-Matic. And parts kept breaking on it. That gun spent more time with Taurus than it did with him, until eventually he sold it.
The reviews I've read about the 111 have been solid, and it's priced right, but I just would never completely trust it. :notsure:

Yep. I've had and shot several Taurus. I really have no interest in them at all. I'm sure the quality is better, just not interested.

For those with the shield and G43, what do your wife/girlfriend think of them?

Anyone have the G42? Not crazy about a 380, but smaller is going to be better and I don't want to go the LCP route.

yeah I have heard they were crap, and got better and their steel guns were good and polymer was junk, but my buddy bought one over a shield about a month a go, and we ran 100 round or better of tulammo with zero hang ups, and I figure if its gonna do it it, it would do it with tulammo in a brand new uncleaned gun. but I wouldn't carry it because its not a revolver, well maybe as a back up back up back up back up.

Girlfriend's not a gun person so she's only shot it a couple of times, so she'll know how in case she ever needs to. But, a one of my girl friends loves it and keeps trying to get me to sell it to her. But her boyfriend's got lousy taste; he owns a Hi-Point and that's it.

So my S&W is the sex compared to that thing.
Not the most reliable test panel, lol

any short barreled 9mm is kind of a shitty plinker so its not the best gun for a new shooter or someone that likes to limp wrist to learn on. The short barrel equates to more kick than you would expect. My shield was worse than my 43, and the mag extensions helped a lot with overall control but for the most part my GF prefers to shoot my G19 over the G43. She likes my .380 Beretta 84F over both for real calibers and the P22 if were just plinking (and so do I since I can let her shoot all afternoon for about $5)

Yea I looked at the TT ones forever but just couldnt justify the expense for a +1 base. The Hyve ones are super nice, well machined and anodized your choice of color for a steal compared to TT. Check them out!

I'd agree with that, though I'd add 'poly' to the list. The gun I have new shooters start out on is my 5906. It's a compact, but it's 100% Stainless steel so it just eats recoil. Gets them over being 'scared' of shooting a gun in a hurry.
