He just took the extractor out and put the gun back together and the slide no longer "sticks". So it has to be the extractor creating tension.

I just googled xds extractor problem...bunch of results came up so its apparently a fairly common problem

Maybe Springfield has a fix already

Yeah, the problem is they hold their value quite well. The used ones I've seen so far are almost the price of new ones. My FIL is a county sheriff and does a lot of gun trading on the side. I have him looking for a good deal. he usually turns up whatever I'm looking for pretty quick.

How much are you looking to spend? I see used glocks regularly for $300-$350...and a new blue label is under $500

If I could find one for $300 I'd jump on it. Most around here want $400 or more used.

And he fixed it. Took the extractor spring out and trimmed it, works perfectly! :)

Except I have no idea what that did to my manufacturer warranty.

I wouldn't worry about the warranty. Almost every gun out there gets modified at some point and most manufacturers still stand behind their product. Hopefully you won't need the warranty like you do on a Tacoma.

If you're that worried about it buy an original length spring for 10 cents and their it in if you ever have to send it into the factory.

well, i went to the range with a few buddies today, shot the sig at metal targets, no paper.

earlier in the day, i adjusted the rear sight to the right( hammer and something metal)

started hitting targets, now i think the elevation is messed up but theres no way to adjust that,

also picked up a TLR-4 from a buddy of mine for a good deal ($60) , but i didnt get it dialed in because we didn't bring a allen key. but its been a good day ,... :drunk:

(the wife is out of town for the weekend, took me too long to type this up )

There's always a way. Just maybe not easy. Are either front or rear sights easily replaceable? Usually the easiest method to correct elevation is a different height front sight. Less often you can get a different height rear sight. Sometimes you have to take a file to one or the other.

after shooting paper targets, well see, i still need much more practice, but, it seems to be much better so far. after your previous comment i checked my rear sight. it was obviously favoring the left. so i tried to make to center again

Sometimes there is no adjustment in the handgun and you have to change either your hold on the target or your sight picture. I have several handguns that I use a bullseye(center) hold and others a 6 o'clock hold. If shooting silhouettes, you may have to shoot high or low center of mass. It's not ideal, but some guns just aren't able to be dialed in correctly. Considering most are mass produced for the greatest profit margin, it's amazing that most are right on. Some guns come from the factory not quite right and never shoot to point of aim.
