I just wanted to come back and say you all suck! So I decided not to get the Hi Point but instead am getting a group buy for a stipped AR-15 style machined upper and lower pair. So you saved me some money from not buying the Hi Point but I have a feeling I'll spend that 7 - 8 times over building this thing up!

And I'll be broke and divorced in the long run if I keep drooling over all the guns in this thread and the 'Show me your guns' thread

Amen, I don't ever plan on selling any of my firearms, even the cheap ones. I have the same motto with tools, never sell them, just keep adding, you'll need them again someday.

But at least you'll have quality firearms. If your wife can't see the value in that then perhaps she's not the right one. ;)

I'm the opposite. Everything I own is for sale for the right price, and I'm always looking to upgrade, lol.

Haha, no, she's the right one. She wants nothing to do with firearms though. Doesn't want to see them, know about them, etc. but has no problem with me having them. She even got me a membership at a range for my birthday. I use this as me not needing to ask to buy things firearm related because she doesn't want to know :)

Yea i'll probably build a new pistol. Gonna make it like the AK 104 with barrel ending right after the front sight post/gas block.

I haven't done it with an SKS, but I've done it with my old S&W 5906. I used jeweler's rouge and a cloth, but I know a lot of people have done it using a dremel. Personally, I'd be afraid of taking off too much, lol. Doing it by hand took a lot longer, but I didn't spend nearly as much time worrying about overdoing it.

Any of y'all have experience with camo wraps?
My cousin is looking at getting one for his BPS (duck gun) and doesn't know jack about them and wanted me to do some research on wraps.

I told him about cerakote if he wanted something permanent and he's looking into that.
I'm kinda worried about moisture getting under the wrap and rusting the barrel, so i told him he should cerakote the receiver/barrel, and wrap the stock/forend.

Am in the market for a new .45/70 as i already have a winchester 94 30 30. I start my hunt on the WWW, and i come across something i had never seen before.

    http://www.mossberg.com/product/rifles-lever-action-centerfire-464-spx/41026

For some reason this thing { no matter how against the thought of it } has me wanting to go to a retailer and hold it. It really goes against what a true lever gun is.
It seems to me that with all the restrictions on guns, the makers are starting to think outside of the box a bit.
Anyway, any thoughts on this funky lever gun.
    If i could justify a Uberti, i would have a yellowboy .44/40

    http://www.uberti.com/firearms/1866-yellowboy.php

any suggestions for a good pig gun ? my 30/30 does the job, i just want a new toy.

I wouldn't wrap a hunting gun. Just Cerakote it & be done. Buy once cry once applies here.

I told him that to, so he wants me to look into dipping the gun.

Honestly i'd tell him to keep the gun as is and get a BPS with a 3 1/2'' chamber in camo, but his current BPS fell out of the truck and split the gun case open while they were driving down the road, so it's not in to good of shape aesthetically, but it works fine.

Question, in your opinions, is it worth the extra $$ to have a billet lower/upper Cerakoted? I generally treat my firearms very well but am willing to pay for durability because, as I mentioned above, I don't believe in selling off any of my firearms and expect them to outlast me. Aside from cosmetics, is there any functional reason to pay for this coating on something that won't rust anyways?

I am planning on using a stainless barrel if that matters.

Nope. A lower isn't going to rust.

Didn't think so, just wanted to confirm (still very new to AR's). AR build is officially off the ground, just had to decide if I wanted the set coated or not. Black, it is

The plan is to buy a stripped upper and lower set and build the whole thing up from scratch. I'll buy the required tools along the way. I tossed around the idea of building the lower and buying an assembled upper but I don't think I want to do that. It'll be a very slow, very tedious process but I think it'll be a lot of fun and a great learning experience. I'm sure I'll be posting all sorts of stupid questions here in the future.
