That's interesting to know that some departments are available to that. I agree that would be the best practice as it can get a second screening on people. I will have to remember this in the future.

I have a love/hate relationship with 3" 1911s for this reason. I love them for EDC, but field stripping them sucks. I use custom loads in my Springfield Micro Compact, so I don't worry about stovepiping/jamming etc anymore. I've always wanted the Ultra CDP II, but just know that I'll probably end up with the same problems as most do, and there's nothing wrong with what I have, it's 1oz heavier, so no biggie there. If I'm feeling unconfident in that gun that particular day, I just grab the Ruger SR1911 Lightweight Commander, and go about my day. I honestly can't feel the difference carrying it all day.

Those are some nice weapons...since we are on the topic of 1911s has anyone heard of LAR? I got a 44 magnum LAR 1911, got it for Christmas about 5 years ago thanks to gun broker. Its almost twice as wide in the pistol grip as a normal 1911. Was curious if anyone else might have one? I need to snap a pic this weekend of it so people can believe its real.

Never played with one, but would definitely give it a go if given the opportunity.

You gotta remember, they don't want sketchy fawkers running around with firearms either, so it's in their best interest as well. Might make a phone call or 2 just to make sure that they will do this service.

Seems like Streamlight makes quality stuff... Especially for the price. I've been eyeing the ProTac Rail Mount 1 light for my HD shotgun for a while now.

As much as I'd love to see this done, I doubt it ever will. Too many gun owners have been convinced of the need for "sensible" gun laws and increased burden on legal gun owners. The government and the antis are slowly but surely trying to destroy gun ownership from within. Seems to be working. Anyway, hope it gets my silencers out of ATF jail sooner.

It might not be a full repeal but I hope they atleast reform the law to allow sbr. I don't think full auto will be allowed since too many people think full auto is scary.

I'd be happy with taking SBR and suppressors off the list. They do not pose any greater risk than current non NFA firearms do. Have no problem keeping full autos on there as long as they are still available for purchase and allow new manufacture.

I could see suppressors coming off the NFA. Actually a lot of benefits to doing so. SBR's and SBS's should be since the fact they are is just silly. Even the ATF has unofficially admitted that IMO with their allowance of the braces. They know 100% why the braces are so popular and it sure isnt disabled shooters.

Machine Gun wont be removed though. To "scary". I would at least like the ban on new ones to be repealed though. I would be happy with having to do the NFA crap but being able to buy a post 84 gun and not stupid high prices
