If I read right. You cannot buy a "pistol lower" in California. It's all dros'd as a rifle. You however can mill out an 80% lower and it can be whatever you want.

And the pistol ar/ak are very popular here now. I see 2-3 of them every time I go to a range.

Do you have any experience with this particular gun? I am wanting to know the quality or if it is worth it.

I don't, but google the reviews and they are almost all good, and the owner of a small gunshop in the hills said he'd buy a rock island 1911 before he'd buy one of the new springfield 1911's.

I don't eigther but it is a good manufacturer and it's hard to mess up a 1911! Besides for that price you could do some upgrades to it for cheap and have a nice custom pistol.

I just bought a Springfield Stainless Mil Spec; I love it
I was almost set on a Rock Island, until I handled both at a shop
The Rock Island had a little bit of creep in the trigger and it, generally, didn't feel as smooth as the Springfield
...In Rock Island's defense, that was the only one out of, probably, 4 or so I've handled that I noticed any creep in
And, although, I've never personally actually operated one, I've never heard a bad report from anyone I know who owns one

But, back to the Springfield... I've never operated an old(er) one; so, I guess I can't make a comparison
But, I'm super happy with mine

A relatively easy fix by tweaking the 3-finger spring generally.

Also, my Springfield has got a model 70 trigger assembly, which was more appealing to me
Edit: oh, and an arched backstrap

The 1911 in the link also has a 70 series fire control group.

    I owned a Ruger SR1911
The trigger had super gritty creep and the slide to frame was so loose it freaking rattled
The trigger itself also had an abnormal amount of play in every direction
    Wasn't very happy

I love my mil-spec. Only gripe about them is how expensive they are in California. You can get a sig with Novak and dovetail sights, beaver tail grip safety, and light rail for almost same price as a milspec

I got mine for around $630 (before taxes) at a local shop in Idaho
That's the cheapest I've found it anywhere, including online

Ruger will fix it for you. They have great CS. They'll also pay shipping both ways.
