Yeah I don’t really get it. It’s fun to shoot that stuff I guess but at least haul them off. Haven’t been in years but got swept a couple of times by a guy sighting in his deer rifle with no ear protection.

 

Yup. I shy away from public ranges when possible.

 

So nice to shoot the suppressed .22 outdoors, I’m more worried about getting hearing damage from the trash pump running 15 ft behind me.

 

Just picked up a 1943 Lee Enfield No4 MK1. Its a Canadian Longbranch that was factory refurbished in '48 in England. I love these old surplus rifles. I think I am just gonna leave the stock alone. I consider every nick bump and scratch on it a battle scar well earned. Shot 20 rounds through it yesterday. She is a good shooter still. So much fun. Also so much cosmoline.

Can confirm. My M48 is quite loud. They don't have as impressive of a fireball as the Mosins do IMO.

 

My '03-A3 hardly barfs anything for fire, no more than my Savage in '06 does.

Certainly nothing even close to the Mosin. Facing a Soviet line of battle must have been terrifying: with all of those fireballs it would have looked like they were firing cannons instead of rifles.

 

Get your self a Westinghouse Mosin. They are the only refrigerators that shoot giant fireballs.
Also that '03' is making me drool. I'm always on the lookout for a good deal on one of those. I want to have a firearm from every major power in WW2.

 

I'm satisfied with my Russian-produced Mosin. I picked it up a few years ago for cheap (as Mosins tend to be) and got a couple of the apocalypse-proof 440 round spam cans. I figure if the world goes to crap I can at least bruise my shoulder on the cheap for a good long while

I really want to get is a Garand to go with my 03-A3, but I haven't been able to justify the price to myself yet.

 

Id just buy some flat steel and increase the height as you need it. drill through the steel and put concrete bolts and bolt it to the floor.

 

that also would be good. You could go the concrete method also.

 

Consider using a rubber leveling pad or Delrin blocks. Sometimes mixing metals on a concrete
surface can speed up the rusting process.

 

I think the rust concern is the safe, not the contents.

 

Got the chance to shoot a cz shadow 2 this weekend, all I can is what a awesome pistol. A bit pricey, but I think there may be a cz spo1 in my future. Will be my first cz.

He means the steel to the floor. The concrete floor will make the steel sweat and rust.

 

If it were me, as long as you have the tools. I would build a mini box kind of like how you would build a wall in your house. And I would taper one side of the 2 x 4‘s that you’re using for the structure to match the floor and then put 3/4 and add as many stringers as you felt needed to handle the weight. Then put plywood on the top and the bottom. That way, you would create a vapor barrier between the floor in your safe and you could still lag bolt the safe down to the floor if you wanted. And it would take it up off the floor in case you ever had a water issue in your garage.
