I got an email with one of these this morning. Figured it was a ‘sign’ to get one and try. For less than $30 I’m not expecting much more than a potential paperweight. A couple of reviewers said they had mounted them on some hard hitters; 20g slug gun and a 45-70 crack back. So there’s hope... But I’m sure CtD regulates the reviews in their favor.

So Im driving from FL to MD this weekend, staying at a relatives house, then coming back. I was hoping to CCW on the way up, then maybe lock up the gun in a case un loaded and bring it into the house for storage until i leave.

I have a FL CWP, I just really dont want to pull off 95 at night to walk my dog without protection. But it looks like below I CANNOT have a weapon near me at all if i stop in the state. Which sucks...

    Q. Can I legally transport firearms interstate? (From the MD State Police)

    A. Yes, under Title 18 , Section 926A, of the United States Code, a person who is not prohibited from possessing, transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passen ger compartment. In the case the vehicle does not have a compartment separate from the driver's compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked compartment other than the glove compartment or console.

Federal Law on Transporting Firea rms:

    § 926A

. Interstate Transportation of F irearms

Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who i s not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he m ay lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment

of such transport ing vehicle: Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver’s compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console.

Note: If you travel through MD with t he firearm unloaded and secured you are covered under Federal law. If you interrupt your trip while in Maryland, you come under state law, and may not transport a handgun even unloaded and cased, except to a few designated destinations (range, residence, e tc.) without a Maryland Permit. These restrictions on transportation do not apply to long guns.

Swing by an Academy or Dick’s Sport Goods and pick up a semi-cheap Stoeger Coach Gun 12g double barrel. Keep shells handy and jump through those loopholes all the way to your destination. Or did I misread something.

Since your destination is within Maryland, federal interstate laws don't apply to you and instead have to abide by intrastate laws.

Basically, don't bring a gun unless you're alright with being arrested in Maryland for having it.
