That’s the “with scope” price, right? The Axis comes with a 3-9x40 Weaver. The Ruger comes with a 3-9x40 Vortex II. It’s a great scope. I A/B’d them at the shop during the rebate window and couldn’t decide. It wasn’t until after the rebate period that I decided to keep saving and go with the Ruger American. Also, the Ruger has a direct copy of the Savage trigger.

Welp I took my AR into a local shop for them to check the headspacing because I don't have a set of the gauges. It wouldn't even come close to closing on a "go" gauge, chamber was not made deep enough! Its a cheap unnamed barrel so I think I am just going to buy a new barrel for the rifle and move on.

The only decision is 556 or 6.5grendel.......

If given the opportunity, I'd go for the 6.5 Grendel!. everyone HAS a 556

I'm looking into the grendel but the $ just keeps adding up. So far I'm looking at $80ish for the barrel, $100 for a bolt, gas system parts (my rifle has carbine length and all the 6.5 ones I've found are mid length or rifle) and then magazines and a new scope. Thinking I might just get a 556 barrel because then itll only cost me the $80ish for the new barrel and I don't have to get any other parts.

I picked up the Glock 43 I ordered for my Future Son in law today. He came by after work and we went out back and ran a box of 9mm through it. I am not sure I like it more than my Glock 26 but it is a nice CCW pistol.

I'm going to call them tomorrow but I'm not gonna hold my breath. If they want me to send the whole rifle back on my $ I'm just gonna put a different barrel on it and not worry about it. If they will just exchange barrels or send me a new barrel then thats what I'll do.

Part of me is looking at this as an opportunity to put a nicer barrel into it

Get a quality barrel. Maybe spend a little extra and get a Larue. They are only $200.
Guy I shoot with has an 18 or 20" and can easily hit at 600 yards ( and has done 800 numerous times) with 77gr ammo.

I have no brand loyalty with this so :notsure: The bear creek barrels are guaranteed sub 1moa at 100yds and have good reviews, looking like a good way to go.

Grendel all the way. Starting to get the same numbers as 308 in a ar15 package is a no brainer.

Don't forget about ammo costs too. Reloading I would guess makes it almost a wash.
