Oh yeah, $153 renewal on top of a 3 hour retraining class. Worth it, barely.

Very. Not hard to be out over 1k to go from unarmed to armed and licensed in the end.

And to think that I was annoyed about paying $80 for my 5 year CCW permit the first time

Yeah... I think I'll stay in AZ and keep my constitutional carry. I was contacted about a job at Scott AFB about 6 months ago, and turned it down without a second thought for that reason alone.

F that, in Ms it’s $132 for the first 5 years and then a renewal is only $85 for 5 years, however a permit is not required to carry on your person or in your vehicle unless you’re carrying on your person without a holster.

I lied. 150 to apply, 100 for prints, 150 ish for a class. Plus 90 rounds of ammo for practice/qualification. So, before travel and BS, 450 caliber depending.

Maine has constitutional carry as well(passed it recently), but I'm keeping my permit current for the other advantages it gets you.

    http://www.maine.gov/dps/msp/licenses/weapons_permits.html

    "...
There will be some circumstances in which an optional handgun permit will authorize the permittee to carry in certain locations or during an activity when an unpermitted person could not:

    • Acadia National Park (Maine Permit required; 12 M.R.S. §756) NOTE: Pursuant to 25 M.R.S. 2001-A (2)(F), Maine will recognize a concealed handgun permit issued by another state to its resident if that state recognizes Maine’s resident concealed handgun permits. A resident permit from that state is valid for concealed carry of a handgun within Acadia National Park
    • State Parks (Permit required; open carry not permitted; 12 M.R.S. § 1803(7))
    • Regular archery hunting-deer only (Permit required; 12 MRS § 11403)
    • Employees’ vehicles on work premises (Permit required; vehicle must be locked and firearm must not be visible; 26 M.R.S. §600)

If an individual is carrying a concealed handgun without a permit, he/she has a duty, when coming into contact with any law enforcement officer during a routine stop, detention or arrest, to immediately inform the law enforcement officer that the individual is carrying a concealed handgun."

Yeah, I'm planning on getting an AZ CCW as well once I actually get a house out here. All that's required is a couple hours of classes and some paperwork plus gov't processing fee I think.

Plus, I figure if the constitutional carry ever gets voted down, this way I won't have to join the mad rush for a permit.

One of the few benefits to an IL CCL is that I can carry in Half the nation, and almost all of the good wheeling spots.

Utah's the same way, and theirs is a lot cheaper to get.

I've been tempted to pick up a non-resident permit there just to fill out the nation a bit, too. Makes almost everywhere I'd go accessible while carrying.

The problem that I have is that I'm stuck in a corner with Massachusetts, Connecticut, and NY between me and the rest of the country

yeah... I mean, my understanding is you can transport your weapons through those states as long as you dont stop, but I'm not sure what protections you have if there's some kind of roadside emergency.
