The trace happens more than you think...one of my very close friends was contacted by the ATF a few years back

He had sold a revolver private party and it was subsequently used in an armed robbery and murder in NY...after recovery of the firearm, they utilized the trace and figured out who the original owner was,he luckily kept records of who he sold it to and was able to easily provide that information

They’re not gonna waste effort to run a trace on a recovered stolen firearm etc, but major crimes like a murder....it’s very possible and worth the effort to help try and solve the crime

Just do what I do and don't sell any of them; just keep buying more, haha!

I can see it for an unsolved crime, but if someone gets arrested and they have a firearm on them, even if that firearm was used in a crime they wouldn't jump through hoops to trace the origin of the firearm. If it turns out the person in possession of the firearm ends up not being related to the crime the firearm was tied to, then yeah, I could see them doing a little more digging, but they are more concerned with the arrest than returning stolen property. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if good portion of the firearms slated for destruction ended up in personal collections. Lord knows there have been plenty of cases of "destroyed" firearms ending up back on the street.

Thankfully my state doesn't allow destruction of firearms by the State Patrol. Except for ones illegal for everyone to own (ie illegal short barreled shotguns/machine guns). They sell or auction them off. Local police can destroy but only major cities really do that

It is very unfortunate you don't get your gun back.

I didn't expect to. What stung was it was my first build and I had a lot of money in it. Noveske barrel, DD lite handguard, Aimpoint Micro, Troy sights, etc, etc.

    Very nice.

I wonder if it will get destroyed or "borrowed"? :(

Just looking at it makes it very hard to
tell. Maybe a laser in the bore would help to solve it. Aim dead center and have someone see if it is off to the left? Usually though I find it is human error that causes stuff like this. Humans are usually more error prone than machines when it comes to repeatable results.

Let 5 guys shoot t and don’t tell them anything beforehand. See what their groups do. I shoot everything to the left, especially my G19. It’s my trigger squeeze.

Also, try it in single action if you haven’t already. Will be much more accurate when shooting for groups.

Looks pretty cool to me. It should be pretty hard hitting too with the 10mm. I would want to add the bull pup stock to it.

10MM seems to be making a comeback.

I've never messed with .38 super, the only upside I see to it is getting 9mm capacity with .40 (or 9MM+p+) power.

Always been a 10mm fan. I'd rather have a MechTech 10mm conversion than a high point

    http://mechtechsys.com/

Hipoints always weigh 5 pounds more than they need to.

ASR also has a nice 10mm carbine, but it's $699 MSRP is steep.

I built a 10mm AR a while back. Full house loads beat the hell out of it. No way to get enough buffer weight in the space provided (I'm at 11oz with a 308 spring). Downloading my own ammo for it does make it a fun gun, but I probably wouldn't build one now knowing what I know.

I wouldn't carry a gun with an aftermarket trigger that you don't know who installed it.

    That's me tho.

I'd buy a new one that hadn't been screwed around with, personally. It'd be around the same price, if you get one on sale. The idea behind the aftermarket stuff is nice, but you have no idea what this guy's skill level is at amateur gunsmithing. :notsure: $.02
