Hi friends. I'm picking up a Ruger PC carbine 9mm tomorrow and I am all sorts of antsy about it. Anyone have any recommendations for a affordable red dot? also, any ideas what I can use the bottom rail on it for?

    1) No. I have an astigmatism so red dots don't work well for me.
    2) A light.

I was thinking a light too but I’m not sure if I would ever use it... or even remember it’s there if I really needed to use it lol

What sort of ranges are you thinking about using it at? If you're planning on close-up you could drop a laser under there, but they're pretty useless in bright light.

    Maybe a bayonet

50 yards and less I would say. I have my 22 and 223 for further distances.

    Check Build thread

Flip out bipod for the bottom to plink while prone? Laser? Flashlight? Vertical grip? Angled grip?

And I just picked up a vortex crossfire 2 red dot for $130 that’s pretty nice. All the really cheap ones don’t work too well at all and aren’t accurate

That’s about the price range I’d like to be in. How do you like it?

When I was younger I had one but was too bull headed and proud to realize what a great gun it was. I thought bigger was better and was blowing the front shouldersout of our whitetails with my 7mm Weatherby! Now I won’t put my 257 Roberts down for anything. I almost ordered my Montana Rifle Company rifle in 7X57 but ended up with a 280AI that I’ve never shot and probably never will. Even though the 280AI is a great caliber I have no current need for it and ordered it in a cloud of stupid, which I spend a lot of time in when it comes to guns. I probably don’t need 95% of mine. I’m sure no one else on here knows what I mean....LOL

I’m pretty open to ideas at the moment. Not sure what would be best for a PCC

Oh yeah, totally! Those are great- especially for ARs and similar firearms.

Vortex has some great red dots, they also have a Prism scope, similar to a red dot but has an etched reticle for people with astigmatism.

I would throw a TLR-1 or TLR-1 HL on it because it’s always good to have a light.

    You have my attention!
Since you have them already, in real world practical use, are they worth it?

I love my Vortex stuff but I have also heard a lot of good things about Holosun sights lately, though I have not tried one yet.

I love my vortex scope, I don’t have one of their red dots yet, I’d like to get either. Viper or venom for my M&P pistol.
I have a hollosun 510C (?) with the solar panel and it’s awesome, no issues with it.

Holosun has some great options. I'm very tempted by the HE510c-gr Elite (what a name, huh?). Open reflex, multiple reticle options. Solar failsafe. Shake awake. Titanium & waterproof housings? I'm in.

I think so. I also use the Acorn velcro door holsters for pistols. Using those two things i can fit a lot more stuff in my safe.

I have a Holosun on an AR right now with a magnifier behind it. I like the auto adjust to light feature. Let me know if you want to go shooting and try it out.

I have a brand new EOTech HWS sitting in a box and I'm hesitant to swap it out lol. It was a replacement because my last one lost it's brightness.
