I currently use an MRO but would suggest a fast fire or similar.
I used the rail for a bipod to sight it in then removed it.

MRO= Trijicon MRO (Expensive red dot)

fastfire= Burris Fastfire, a red dot that is more "reflex" style than most holosun and vortex offerings.

Trijicon MRO is a round type red dot. I like it due to it being larger in diameter than most other red dots like the aimpoint or clones. Seems less like looking through a tunnel.

Burris Fast Fire is a mini reflex style red dot. Much smaller than the MRO. Similar would be a Trijicon RMR, Vortex venom, or a Leopuld Delta Point. Google them. The fast fire or venom will be the cheapest.

You can go wrong if you put them on anything other than a 22lr. I have a pile of 3 junk TRS25s. One destroyed by a 300 blackout Encore, one destroyed by a 45acp AR, one with a switch that just stopped working. I don't go any cheaper on red dots than Primary Arms any more.

its going on a Ruger PC 9. Should be alright for my situation I think. If there is a problem the lifetime warranty should replace it. We'll see i guess

I had a TRS25 on an AR, lasted a few hundred rounds before giving up and never turning on again. Id buy one of the lower end Vortex red dots over the TRS25 any day.

yeah thats obnoxious. the range I go to we have flashing red lights in each lane. theres a switch on the wall to flick them on. If the red light is flashing; guns unloaded and down on the bench until further notice and the ligiht are off.

I've had one on an AR for 4-5 years now and it has served me well through at least a few thousand rounds so they may just be hit and miss. The battery life isn't good if you forget to turn them off but at the time it was the only option I knew of besides an Aimpoint for this type of sight.

That being said if I were to buy something like this now I would do just as you said and get one of the lower end Vortex or Holosun red dots.

this is an indoor/outdoor range. Youre inside but shooting out a little window with a bench/shelf in front of you. Each stall or lane has a red light bulb. There is only one switch to activate all red flashing lights which is on the wall near the door.
