@Noellie84, honestly i have no idea, the way it played out was basically my mom shoving it in my arms and saying get this out of here and take it home, i can look when i get home... so for informational purposes you bring up a Rem. 742 not being good for 600, can i ask why? and if not what are they good for?

    Gotcha.
I pulled the 742 out of thin air, because I know that they're an older model (1960's-80's) that came with a wood stock in '06. My dad has one in .308 and while it makes a great woods gun where you'll be shooting at a max of 100 yards it isn't what I'd choose to try to shoot 600 yards with, just because it's an older semi-automatic and isn't as accurate as a bolt-action of a similar vintage would probably be. The groups on his start opening up if you go much past 150-200 yards with it, so at 600 the accuracy would be a couple orders of magnitude worse.

No problem. Always more to learn with firearms. The more I learn, the more I realize that I don't know even a fraction of it!

Let us know, I'm sure there are quite a few people (including myself) that can get you going in the right direction regardless of what it is.

Noticed the same thing, and yeah the gear up is what’s tempting.
I haven’t been able to find info, are the frames the same for the 4.5 and 5.25? The 4.5 is defiantly more suited for edc, but if the frames are the same, will SA sell the slides alone, because I would probably then pick up the 4.5 and find a 5.25 slide later. If HK or sig did the VP or p320 in 10mm, I would drop everything and pick one up. I really want a 10mm hicap edc, 9mm is getting boring and I’m not a 40 or 45 guy.

I felt the need to try a polymer 80 glock build, but I probably went a different direction than most.

We’ve got one at work. I like that it comes with different guide rods for suppressed and unsuppressed.

*Random thing that happened, thought I would share*

I got a Vortex diamondback hp on a trade a while ago. I was looking at other scopes on their site and found out that they came with sunshades. I contacted Vortex, told them I got the scope used, didn't have a sunshade and would want to purchase one. They emailed me back within two hours asking for my address because they will send me one for free.

Just my thoughts on Vortex, I've owned a few crossfires and never had an issue (sighted in some vipers too). They really do have excellent customer service. I don't think many companies would send that for free, even though it probably is under $20 if purchased. I'll go ahead and continue supporting any company that puts its customers first.

Vortex is G2G as it gets. When they say their warranty is for life they mean it.

Details on the rifle would be nice, but more important is what you want to do with it. Long range precision shooting? Hunting?

That's the first time I've had to contact them. Never had an issue before, and it wasn't an issue just wanted to buy a sunshade. :hattip:My buddy got a viper hs and rings directly through them, he said they spent probably an hour on the phone with him walking him through/helping him pick the best scope for his application. That's another +1 in my book too.

Yup, they're the shiz. I've been listening to their podcast recently and they are definitely guys to go do the thing. 2/3gun, long range shooting, hunting (lots of hunting), they do it, and can help you find what you need for it.

Got my Sub2K back from its warranty work today. Now I need to find time to go out and shoot it to see if she still groups nice and tight. I'll be annoyed if the rebarrel wrecked my groups

Unfortunately, Hunting season starts this weekend, which means it'll probably be December before I find time to try it out. :frusty:

Yeah I've been running a crossfire II 3-9x50 on a 35 Remington and 760 in 30-06 for a few years. For the money those are tough to beat, even in low light (got them for $90 each on sale)
