Sometimes used is still better quality then new. I get what you’re saying, still not a fan though. Also not a proponent of someone having to be armed. It’s a legal right and nice to have. If they feel they have to be armed and can’t afford to save $300-$500 for a quality gun, then they probably need to reassess their spending habits or look at used options.

Aesthetics aside, they shoot pretty well and are reliable. Plus you can use them as a blunt force weapon when you run out of ammo.

Looking for gun buying experiences in Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming...

I've been reading about the purchasing process that residents of these three fine states go through, and I'm wondering what you guys have to say.
Do you commonly go into your LGS, or order online?
Do you wait at all, or leave with your new pew-pew the day you decide to go buy it?
Are you concerned about future changes in your state (trying to keep this non-political, but I realize how hard that's going to be), and if so, what changes?
How does this process differ from other states you've been a resident of?

    Thanks in advance,

For me, I typically go to a big box store. The two major ones price match.

I worked a gun counter for a bit and most take their guns the same day if they did any past purchases. If it’s the first time, they may get wait listed. With a ccw, you’re essentially preapproved by NICS so you will take the gun the same day.

Brother in law lives here and does most of his purchases and sales private citizen to private citizen.

I recently moved from Idaho so this may be of use to you.
When I lived in Idaho I usually went to the LGS. They had decent prices and I usually couldn't best them online if I added shipping and the transfer fees. I think I only ordered a gun online once while I lived there.

Usually I have researched a gun quite a bit before I buy it. So if I go into the store I already intend to buy unless I see some glaring issue in person. So normally I buy right then and there.

I want to move back to Idaho but I am worried about the 2A situation there a bit. Lots of people from Cali moving to Boise so hopefully it doesn't end up like an Illinois or New York situation.

Utah seems to be the same process for buying as Idaho. Though I have yet to buy a gun from a gun store in Utah so far.

It’s not a legal right. It’s a constitutional right. And tell someone that has been killed by a stalker or abusive ex they need to change their spending habits and see how that goes.

I had a 9mm carbine about 20 years ago, shot the hell out of it and never had any issues. Sold it for what I give for it, about $125 back then.

Don’t act like you didn’t know what I meant by legal vs constitutional right. Also I said used was a viable option. No one said a victim needed to adjust spending to avoid being stalked. The reality of the situation is, if you can’t afford $300-$500 dollars, you probably do need to adjust your spending habits. So don’t try to make something more of it by being as ass just to be an ass.

I get that all of the scavengers are out to defend HiPoint now. It’s ok to have different opinions. I made one comment as a joke, then we have gone back and forth defending each other’s opinions. Lots seem to like HiPoint, some don’t. It’s ok to disagree. Rather then tying up this thread with arguments and trying to change minds that aren’t going to change, how about we all just let it go. :hattip:

I have no opinion on hipoint. Don’t own one never plan on it. But I do know people who wouldn’t be able to own a gun but for purchasing an inexpensive option.

What about the new 350 Legend on an AR lower? I’m looking at AR uppers again and this round has me curious.

Ive heard nothing great about 350 legend, it’s an AR platform workaround for states with straight wall requirements, mediocre performance.

    Scavengers defending high point?

You are probably one of those people that pays $2000 for a glock with a stippled grip and cerakoted slide.

A Straight walled case that indexes on the mouth..... that's a hard pass.

It's like a 30 carbine. Except bullets are more expensive. Reloading 30 carbine sucks. Unless you think trimming brass to the thousandths is fun.

Nice generalization. Scavengers because a bunch jumped in at the same time. I don’t have a single rifle or gun with $2k in it. Nor anything spent on “custom” work. You don’t have to spend a lot to have a nice rifle or gun. You also don’t have to buy a crap pistol to get a good deal. Nice try though.

You have your opinion, I have mine. Thought we were all able to be mature and move past this now.

I had two of their tactical 1911 models, one a full sized and one an officers. Both very reliable and good shooters. Inexpensive 1911's. They sell thousands of them.

    Both.

Always leave with it. Purchase never takes longer than ten minutes. Well except for the suppressor, feds made me wait for that one.

Only changes have been pro-2nd amendment. Not concerned about the future of Wyoming at all.

Lived here too long to remember firearm purchases in other states.
