If I was going to buy another CZ, it would be a 2075 RAMI BD.

Oh sure, when I say it, suddenly there are a bunch of HiPoint fan boys. :notsure:

Obviously I agree to stay away from disposable guns, unless you can only afford to eat Roman for dinner and plan on committing a crime.

When the cost of ammo to stay in practice costs more than your firearm... you might want to consider your choices.

I'm going to go against the grain on them. They're reliable and cheap, and I don't see any reason the guy making minimum wage should have to go unarmed. I'd rather have a HiPoint and 2k rounds to train with than an M&P and just enough money for a box of hollowpoints.

You’ve already been told about Hi-Point, and that’s 100% certain. I cannot ever recommend Taurus. It’s not that they make horrible stuff...some of their designs are stellar. However, their quality is 50/50 at best, and getting one fixed is a crap shoot (at least it used to be, I hear that’s improving).

There’s always a possibility of getting a lemon from any gun manufacturer. Hell, I had an HK VP9 that would choke on anything except for 124gr ammo. What was HK’s response? It was designed for 124gr, there is no problem, and we hate you (they didn’t really say they hated me ). As far as I can find on the interwebs, mine was the only VP9 that ever failed.

Really, imo, as long as you stay with a bigger named company, you’ll likely get a good gun.

And there's another one. I NEED a Taurus .357 to go right alongside the P365XL and P-07 that I have determined are critical to my continued presence on this Earth.

When I watch internet commandos lock back the slide of an auto pistol and then drop the slide on an empty chamber I cringe. The hardened chamber is slamming into the hardened breech face without the cushioning of a brass cartridge. Ride the slide or use a snap cap. Just one of my pet peeves I had to rant about.

Coming home from a road job on Friday, I stopped into the Cabela’s in Charleston WV to have a look around. Ended up leaving with an S&W M&P 15-22 Sport for $305 tax included, out the door (on sale for $299, with an additional 5% discount). Had always wanted one, but thought $400 was too steep for a mostly plastic gun.

Me and my oldest kid took it out on its maiden voyage yesterday, and put 250 rounds of various ammo through it (CCI Mini-Mags, CCI Stingers, Winchester Super X, and Remington Golden Bullets). It’s a fun rifle to shoot, and is far easier to clean than a typical AR pattern rifle. I was stunned that it had a perfect 50yrd zero right out of the box. Didn’t have to touch the sights.

It did have some hiccups though, with 8 failure to feeds. I think this was all attributed to ammo. 100 rounds of the Stingers was 100% reliable. 100 rounds of the Mini-Mags had 4 fails. 25 rounds each of the Winchester and Remington had 2 fails a piece. It seemed like ammo that had a greater land behind the bullets ogive, would “hang up” in the mag and become misaligned, which would cause misfeeds. The Winchester and Remington rounds also had knurling on those longer lands, when I think makes the problem worse. Didn’t have a single failure to fire, which is unusual for rimfire.
