Thanks for taking the time to spell that out for me. Definitely sounds like for higher end rifle rounds reloading is the way to go.

IIRC Vortex did a "1000 yards for $1000" advert/feature piece with a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creed and a 4-16 Diamondback Tactical. If the glass is comparable to my SWFA it'll be a sufficient entry-level rig, but if you're upgrading I'd go up a price class to the $700-$1000 category, the glass is very good in that tier.

No experience with it, I looked at one for my 10-22 build but never pulled the trigger.
I will say that there is a significant improvement in glass quality when you go to the viper series even if you give up FFP. It’s part of the reason that my Viper HS-T 4-16 is on my 10-22

I just hate to give up ffp. I love ffp for hunting when i don't have time to dial dope i can just use holdover at any magnification

My plan as well. However, I am considering keeping a lifesize cutout of a person in the opposite corner of the room to draw the attacker's attention and/or fire away from my wife and I as we hide (oops...I mean "seek concealment") behind our bed. Despite the fact that the Lord has blessed me with a choice of firearms, I have chosen my Vaquero 45 Long Colt and handloads I worked up as my weapon of choice. My wife still prefers her Glock 19, although I am talking her into using her Bearcat. As far as cut outs, I am leaning toward:

Did you use the "special" loads for Rugers and TC only?
You can load those puppies up hotter than a 44mag with good brass

I love loading for Rugers for that very reason. I still get giddy whenever I see "Ruger Only" printed in reloading manuals.

For the most part, 45LC loads are pretty low velocity, but they hit like a lead turkey.
